Maths homework worksheet came home with DS on "time" and at the bottom was a Learning Top Tip - It says... "when drawing the hands on an analogue clock, make sure the hand that shows the hour is longer than the hand that shows the minutes. Hours are longer than minutes!"

So DS will be arriving at 11:45 on Monday. Wink

vest+shirt+trousers+coat = £50
10 x vest = £50
5 x shirt = £50
8 x vest + 1 shirt = £50
6 x vest + 2 shirt = £50
4 x vest + 3 shirt = £50
2 x vest + 4 shirt = £50
7 x vest + 1 trousers = £50
4 x vest + 2 trousers = £50
1 x vest + 3 trousers = £50
6 x vest + 1 x coat = £50
2 x vest + 2 x coat = £50
3 x shirt + 1 x trousers + 1 x vest = £50
2 x shirt + 2 x trousers = £50
1 x shirt + 2 x trousers + 2 x vest = £50
2 x trousers + 1 x coat = £50
2 x trousers + 4 x vests = £50
2 x trousers + 1 shirt + 2 x vests = £50
2 x coats + 1 x shirt = £50
1 x coat + 3 x shirt = £50
1 x coat + 2 x shirt + 2 x vest = £50
1 x coat + 1 x shirt + 4 x vest = £50
1 x coat + 1 x trouser + 3 x vest = £50

Okay - I've run out of steam after 23... sorry about that Blush.

Still not convinced that it is really Yr 2 homework, though. Especially with the £25, £75 and £100 combinations thrown in too.

BaroqueAroundTheClock · 21/03/2011 00:35

Grin - thank god for that - I'm not quite as hopeless as I thought I was hehe.

Agree the £75 and £100 combinations is a bit much - though think the £50 (with the combinations available) is ok for YR2 (have a top set YR2 maths bod.........which is why I was very very worried that I could only find just over 20 combinations)

BaroqueAroundTheClock · 21/03/2011 00:36

and bollox my striking out didn't work Blush

cumfy · 21/03/2011 00:36

Also there'll be 100s of combinations of clothes she could buy if she had £50 to spend (as opposed to the number of combinations which sum to £50 exactly).

I used to work work with folk from the National Numeracy Strategy. They had stories about primary school teachers' maths that were ShockShockShock.

andybat please show that worksheet to the school's maths coordinator, and politely suggest s/he assess whether Maths on Target is, ahem, suitable for use in the school.

And nail placards to the lampposts saying Do Not Use Material From These Fucking Loons.
