I was recently admitted to hospital as an emergency and DP was in charge of bringing me a bag of stuff to tide me over for my (possible) 6 week stay. This is what he brought:

3 prs pants
2 jumpers
1 pr trousers
1 dressing gown
15 books
no toothbrush
no toothpaste
no hairbrush
1 old hotel bubble bath that kids have played with so now full of water not bubble bath
1 bar used soap - circa 1995
no deoderant

AIBU to think DP has different priorities to moi!

I was hospitalised for observation for my high blood pressure every Friday following my midwife appointment from about 34 weeks onwards. On the first occasion we were not prepared for me to be admitted so DH had to go home and collect my things - hospital bag was half packed but gave him a verbal list of things to add to it. He managed most things apart from instead of bringing me the specially bought for hospital knee length nightshirt to sleep in he bought one of his t-shirts that I generally sleep in - by 34 weeks the size of my belly meant that it was now about 1 inch below my crotch in length - ok for at home but not really suitable for wandering around in hospital! He also failed to bring me a dressing gown as he thought I could just use my coat instead!!

Forgot to say that after that bags were packed and in boot of car for every midwife and hospital appointment after that (and there were many!) although somehow we managed to forget them for the consultant appointment at 39 weeks where they ended up rushing me across the city by ambulance to another hospital for an emergency delivery! They were packed though so DH had to just pick them up on his way this time - good job as I was no fit state to tell him what I needed and he was in no fit state to guess/decide himself!

Cyclebump

When my brother was born, dad had to deal with the nits going around my class at school (I was 5, so reception class). Apparantly I ran from the end of the ward, lept on mum's bed and howled about how "Daddy's hair wash hurt lots!!" (I think he'd panicked a bit - I'm still fairly sure the shampoo was DDT) What I was wearing was probably not even noticed after that!

My sister's DH was looking after their 3 DDs just prior to my Mother's funeral. She was staying at our family home and went to collect them to take them to the funeral only to find one of the girls was without any tights or knickers. This was January.
She HAD given him a very explicit list of what to put them in for the day. We can nearly laugh about it now.

You're all worrying me. I'm only 21 weeks pregnant, but tempted to go pack a bag RIGHT NOW so that I don't have to rely on DP to do it for me.

I was in with high blood pressure when 33 weeks. When I had nearly run out of clothes I asked my DH to bring me my stretchy tops and some knickers. The knickers he brought were all lacy ones and so would scratch at my sensitive bump, and a t-shirt of his. This t- shirt was of very thick material, I'm not kidding I had real trouble getting it over my huge twin bump my fundus height was measuring 48cm by then!!!

This thread is making me laugh a lot, and come out of lurkdom!

When pregnant with DS I packed my hospital bag nice and early and kept it in the boot of the car ready for the planned C section. As it happened I was in and out of hospital a lot upwards the end and ended up being rushed for an emergency cs before the planned one. My DH carefully removed my packed bag, to make room for bringing the baby home! I don't know if he thought I'd have the op and be sent straight home thus not requiring any clothes for me or baby, or if he planned on putting the baby in the boot!

DD2 was a big baby, 9lb 6oz, and i had packed a bag with mostly newborn and one 0-3mo sets. So when DP was going home i asked him to bring in bigger clothes as we were going to be in for a few days.

The next morning he was quite late on coming in and when he arrived he had brought 6-9mo and 9-12mo clothes! WTF, i know she was big but i hadn't given birth to ginormica!!

The reason he was late was he had went to mothercare to buy these items as he didn't think we had any big sizes...we had spent the past 2 weeks looking out and washing all DD1s old clothes, putting them in to boxes and labelling them with sizes! Oh, he forgot! Grin
