not OUR choice, as to what Charity they support with their own chosen fund raising events??? Confused

wont bore you with the details, but a situation has arisen thats left me wondering & now curious as to how others view this??,

I'm of the opinion with my own DD that as its HER putting the effort in, so long as she understands what the chosen Charity is about, & its her decision, not something she has been told she has to support by others, then thats fine by me

am I being unreasonable to think this is quite normal & us parents shouldn't be getting involved based on our own personal likes & dislikes??

Admittedly, I was given an actual shit load of Valium yesterday at the dentist, but I don't understand this post at all.

YANBU. Educating children as to what they are giving their money to is a good idea, but actively pushing them towards things for your own personal agenda is wrong.

lol., at 4 you're right, I think I was having much more of a say back then.... DD is now 8 & does know her own mind, & though I have explained other Charities to her & given her choices of course, for a while now I've the final choice is hers, I was a bit shocked today to have another Mum refuse her own DD be allowed to have money raised to the Charity chosen, because the Mum doesn't like it Confused ....now wondering if I'm too liberal, or the other too controlling Confused

Thanks Tidydancer that's my thinking too, so nice to know its not just me, sadly DD is very upset as her friends Mum thinks otherwise & is stopping her friend from donating money they both raised together because SHE doesn't agree with the charity, all a bit silly really, must be a full moon or something....lol
