Or was the man who shouted and sneered at me in the street a complete twunt?

I was trying to leave the house with 2 toddlers plus granny. A huge range rover was parked up the pavement (personalised number plate of course). Rather than wait for us to pass, he leapt into his monster car and started to drive away, which meant he had to reverse back a bit onto the pavement first.

I grabbed the kids who are considerably smaller than one of his tank's wheels and said sarcastically "oh thanks for that" to him. So yes, I started it I suppose.

Very Shock by his reaction though.

He reversed more, wound down window and shouted, "you are bloody ridiculous, I can drive where I want, I am just driving my car".

I said, "go on then, after you" (again bit sarky I'm afraid but really just wanted him to go as felt threatened.

He then launched into a massive tirade but I couldn't hear him over the bus. Caught a few choice phrases that I was gutted my kids might hear.

I said," sorry can't hear you because of the bus".

He said... "I have every right to drive here, because you know what? I actually OWN my own house."

Shock Shock

Yes, we rent our house. He knows this? How? We have been here for years, never seen him before.

Do people really think home owners have more rights than letters? Does his mortgage vs our (£800 per WEEK! I know, I know) rent give him the right to drive over small kids?!

Please tell me he is a loser, my blood is boiling that he spoke to me like that in front of my darling boys and I'm just really sad about the whole thing.

His wife was sat there throughout, silent and bewildered-looking.

twinkytonk · 17/03/2011 20:49

Wow he is a loser and was being very unreasonable.
I for sure don't think I have more right because I own my home. What a prat!

twinkytonk · 17/03/2011 20:49

£800 a week rent Shock

he sounds like a twat

Bookswapper · 17/03/2011 20:51

Good responses shrew!

His poor wife...

PrincessScrumpy · 17/03/2011 20:51

Cars aren't legally allowed on pavements - sounds like he suffers from small dick/big ego to compensate syndrome. Any man who feels the need to shout at a woman, especially in front of kids, is a serious tw*t and clearly can't get laid - probably due to the afore mentioned syndrome.

Wife was probably bewildered over the fact she can't find his thingy.

PinkFondantFancy · 17/03/2011 20:52

Wow that is shocking!!!! He doesn't have the right to drive on the pavement though, idiotic man. Grrr I hate people like that! I have no idea why people feel the need to be so aggressive to random strangers. I guess you just have to feel sorry for him - he's clearly got issues...... Try and forget it if you can, not easy I know!!

DuplicitousBitch · 17/03/2011 20:52

what a cock

headfairy · 17/03/2011 20:52

He is a loser because he has absolutely no right whatsoever to drive on the pavement. If you see him again, tell him to take a long drive in his flaming planet destroyer off a short pier!

PinkFondantFancy · 17/03/2011 20:53

Like princess says, his issues are almost certainly related to a tiny dick....

PrincessScrumpy · 17/03/2011 20:53

Do you live in London or a mansion?!

Vicky2011 · 17/03/2011 20:58

But he was driving on the pavement!?

What a fuckety fuckwit

OMG £800pw rent - where do you live and in what????

UntamedShrew · 17/03/2011 21:02

Ha, thanks all. We live in a very ordinary terraced house in a very nice but very expensive bit of London.

Pros of area: central, green spaces, good schools, villagey.
Cons: lots of wankers range rovers

I am much heartened by your responses and considering putting a banana up his tailpipe :)

Move to the west country - it's lovely down here. People do have range rovers but that's because if you live in a village and it snows you would be screwed otherwise - most people can drive them unlike in London. We're much friendlier. x

Punkatheart · 17/03/2011 21:06

My MIL has the same problem - she is the only one renting in a big posh house full of flats. Over 30 years she has been there and she still gets that awful attitude.

You are the better person - sorry that this colossal idiot made you feel so awful. I can understand you being upset and I send huge horrible scowls to him and a big cyber hug to you and yours.

hogsback · 17/03/2011 21:14

Did you call the police?

AllGoodNamesGone · 17/03/2011 21:15

Some people are just vile and can never admit to being in the wrong, however far in the wrong they are, they always have to think up some reason why they are not - in this case the fact that he owns his house and you rent which had absolutely nothing to do with the fact that he had parked in a stupid place and failed to notice pedestrians behind him when reversing.

what an idiot.

kerala · 17/03/2011 21:15

What has the renting thing got to do with anything what a weird and irrational response from him. Think no more of it obviously a total twerp. Anyway even if you are a snob in London many people rent of all sorts of type and income. Some of the wealthiest people I worked with rented as they were playing the property market or had houses overseas.

When I was renting not in London all the other flats/houses in the row used to have jolly street parties etc to which my flatmate and I were never invited because we were only tenants - everyone else owned their properties. We would sit sadly at our window and watch all the fun like orphans at the feast.

shockers · 17/03/2011 21:16

Do you rent through a letting agency? The twunt might be your landlord Shock!

maxpower · 17/03/2011 21:17

what a twunt - YANBU

Mymblesson · 17/03/2011 21:22

He was a twat, no question.

£800 a week rent though? Bloody hell.

Move to Derbyshire - £325 a month mortgage Smile

hogsback · 17/03/2011 21:30

There's a wider point that we DON'T have to take this. When you're abused in the street, intimidated, threatened - CALL THE POLICE.

In this case it would be very straightforward: vehicle driving on pavement, warning given that children were on pavement, driver continued to drive on pavement and verbally intimidated you.

Sounds like Careless Driving to me.

KenDoddsDadsDog · 17/03/2011 21:34

Defo careless driving. What a wankbasket.

LDNmummy · 17/03/2011 21:38

I'm more Shock he has a wife, or am I?

If I had been sat next to my DP and he had launched an attack like that on someone when he was obviously wrong, I would have absolutely killed him no question.

Is he your neighbour then?
