Coursework statistics

past & present families
and the general view in the past families were bigger.

How big was you family?
How big is your family of children?
Do you come from a big/small family do you think it affects you??

I'd like to see who comes from the biggest :)

I am 31. I have 4 children.
My mother had 3.
Her mother had 3.
My grandmother was also one of 3.

rosie1979 · 17/03/2011 17:53

I was born in 1979 and am one of 6.

Recently I was researching my family tree and my great great grandmother was one of 11.

SecretNutellaFix · 17/03/2011 17:54

I am one of 2 girls

My mother wanted to have more children, but nearly died having my younger sister.

I think if I had more siblings I might have something in common with one of them as my DSis and I do not get on.

I hated having to be the responsible one, the "big" sister and her sense of entitlement as the baby of the family is huge.

goodbyemrschips · 17/03/2011 17:54

I am 42.

My mother had 2 children [me and my bro]

My mum was one of 8

My dad was one of 17 [my grandad was a bit of a lad so the family tree shows.]

AllDirections · 17/03/2011 17:56

I have 4 siblings
My dad was one (a triplet) of 17 children.
My mum is one of 3 children.
I have 3 children (would love more)
My siblings all have 1 or 2 children each but youngest DB is having a third

COCKadoodledooo · 17/03/2011 18:03

I'm 34 and one of 2 (both girls).
My mum has a brother and her sister died just over a year ago. My dad has a brother and 2 sisters. Mum's mum was 1 of 3, her dad one of 2. Dad's dad also 1 of 2, his mum 1 of 5.

Dh is 37 and also one of 2 (both boys). His dad has 3 siblings, and I honestly have no idea about mil's family, as I've never met/heard much at all about them in the 14 years I've been with dh. They're an odd set up.

Me and my sis boths have 2 children - her 2 girls, me 2 boys.

MumInBeds · 17/03/2011 18:07

Her mum is an only child

Currently pg with our sixth (& final child).

My brother has three (so far!), other siblings haven't got children yet.

My dh is one of two, FIL one of two, MIL one of four.

bigmouthstrikesagain · 17/03/2011 18:26

I am 37.

I have 2 full siblings and 3 half siblings *my father married twice).

My Father was one of 4 children(Liverpudlian Irish/Scottish Catholics)

My Mother was one of 5 children (her parents were Catholic/C of E)

I have 3 chidren.

My husband is a pfb and we have very diffrent relationships with our respective families as a result. I think he would have been content with one child I am not sure I would, for e.g. But he has adapted to having 3 very well.

fit2drop · 17/03/2011 18:38

my dad was one of three
my mum was one of three

they had 7 children (I am their 3rd child)

I have had 4 children
My dh has 4 children and 3 step children

so WE have 11 children

Unfortunately they forget that they have left home and still wander in and help themselves to the stores.Grin no worries would not have it any other way,

I have seen the lonliness of the elderly with family that dont visit :(

we have 19 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren

each and everyone an absolute joy to us

My sis has 2 girls
My eldest bro has 2 boys (is divorced and I imagine will have more as he is remarrying)

asdx2 · 17/03/2011 18:50

My mum was 1 of two as was my dad but they both lost their only sibling in childhood.
I am one of six and I have five children.
Of my siblings 1 has no children (through choice) 1 has four children, 2 have three children each and 1 has an only child

lilyberry · 17/03/2011 18:51

Dad is one of five (four survived past infancy).
Mum is one of four.
I am one of three.
My brother has two children.

DP's Dad is one of four.
DP's Mum is one of three.
DP has four siblings; none of them have children yet.

I know I wouldn't like as big a family as DP has; I think I could perhaps have three. Perhaps. I always say we'll have one, and then I'll see if I like them or not. Wink

TheVisitor · 17/03/2011 18:54

Mum was one of 2, born 1942.

Dad one of 2 born 1935
I'm number 6 out of 7, plus mum fostered a family of 5 kids.

Not sure about all of my great-grandparents, but at least 2 came from families of twelve.

My Maternal Grandmother was one of two
My Maternal Grandfather was one of two
My Paternal Grandmother was one of three
My Maternal Grandfather was an only child

My Mum was one of three
My Dad was one of five

I have one brother. He has two children
I have three children.

One of my dad's sisters married my mum's brother (! yes, that is legal), so I have one fewer sets of aunts and uncles than I might have had.

My mum's sister has four children
My Mum's brother (and dad's youngest sister) have two children
My dad's oldest sister had two children
My dad's oldest brother has two children
My dad's youngest brother has no children

risingstar · 17/03/2011 19:09
