Another tediously boring thread about my incredible non sleeping baby I'm afraid.

She is nearly 8 months and wakes anything up to 12 times a night, I would consider a good night to be about 5 times.

I am so tired my brain has turned to mush and I really really need to sleep (for more than 2 hours in one go, I mean).

So I am thinking that my ex DP, who joyously still lives in the same house as me (in his own room), can start having her at night, maybe every other night. She is BF but I have recently started giving her a FF before bedtime so she will take a bottle.

I co-sleep with her as the little bugger will not sleep in a cot so I guess he would have to do the same.

But part of me thinks that it will be really confusing for her, and might make her sleeping worse (though I find it hard to see how that could be possible). Opinions would be greatly appreciated.

I'll probably get flamed for this, but an 8 month old baby is capable of going at least 8 hours at night without a feed. At that age she does not need to be fed in the night, its habit rather than hunger. If you are happy to feed her all night then thats your choice.

From the posts above I can see its not just a matter of leaving her in the cot to scream, but there are solutions to this.

Obviously both parents need to buy into this, so if he isn't prepared to help her sleep all night then of course he should do his share of co-sleeping...

foreveronadiet - I'm not overjoyed with the all night feeding, to tell you the truth! You're right, at 8 months she does NOT need to be feeding every 45 minutes during the night!

Well ex DP has informed me he is moving out in 9 days so he's not going to be much use.

She is still sound asleep in the cot ATM, so far, so good!

Hairdryer worked in this house, as did the fan from the ensuite.

I'm going to sleep with it on my pillow tonight Grin

What a fantastic idea! I'm definitely going to try this if I have a DC2 Grin

I hope you had a good night's sleep?

Stick at it, in a week's time you will wonder what you were bothered about hopefully!

Well she woke up at 11.30pm and I didn't go to her right away as I was brushing my teeth. By the time I got there she was properly crying and I tried the hair dryer but she was having none of it.

So I bought her into bed with me and fed her back to sleep. She woke up another 3 times during the night for feeds (which is good going for her). Still, she did sleep for 4 hours in a cot so I am chuffed with that. Will get her to start the night off in the cot again tonight and see what happens. The white/red/pink noise CDs arrived today so I will try them out.

Any sleep in the cot is progress, I think.

De-tune a channel on your telly or the radio...that's white noise too...and won't turn off after an hour like a CD.

Mine used to like white noise...and the noise of the hoover!

Good luck!
