It seems to me that the employment market is saturated with over 50+'s and an increasing number of under 25's (and in some areas under 30's) are seriously struggling to get work.

I am all for being equal and fair and non discriminatory but shouldn't that work both ways with the older workers considering their children's generation may need to work? Can't help but wonder why they keep raising it (other than the serious lack of pension)

I wish people would stop talking as if over 50s were disposable members of the work force, with a lesser right to employment than other groups.

A great many people in their fifties have mortgages, children still at home, and crap pension provision, which will be even crappier if they're forced to take their pensions earlier.

Why should they start working part time, in preparation for retirement? Most over fifties are fit, healthy and experienced. They turn up for work on time, and don't throw sickies for no good reason.

I don't understand why more employers don't favour them.
