Letting agents

We have been renting our house for over 3 years now. A couple of years ago we were informed that it had been repossessed and taken over by the receivers but they were going to keep renting it to us and we just paid our rent to them from now on.
Since then we have had so many property inspections and valuations, it must be every 3 months or so and always from someone different!

The other day we had another one round here asking questions and I mentioned that there was a big gap around the adjoining door from the garage.
Since then I've been inundated with calls from people asking when workman can come round and do a quote.

I'm 37 weeks pregnant and feeling very tired and really don't want the bother of various blokes round here I have other things on my mind at the moment to be honest!!

Would I be unreasonable to refuse them to come round?

BTW the door has been like that since we moved in!!

Initially I was ready to say YANBU, my reflex default at the mention of letting agents.
Having read this, I don't think it's a question of R or U, rather you pointed out a defect and the agents have put a remedy forward.
I think you've got two choices, you can either have the work done before or after your baby comes.

Seems like they are doing their job, you pointed out a defect (which will have given the impression that you want it fixed) and now they want to fix it for you.

It will need to be done, so either before or after the baby arrives really isn't it. If it were me I would rather get it done now.

Most workmen are thoroughly decent family men I am sure they will make huge efforts to be quick and clean with the work when they realise you are expecting. My advice is buy a tin of biscuits for them set aside some mugs tea, coffee ect and ask them to just help them selves play the 'little lady' and they will run themselves ragged for you!

i would get it done now. i am also renting and wasn't in the mood to have some work done before the birth. partly because landlord's first choice painter was a fricking CREEP a bit on the odd side. ended up sacking the weirdo first painter, and i had to deal with the second painters painting some small areas when ds was 2 weeks old. wished i had had it done before the birth.

Actually I have no objection to the probably very nice handy man that's actually coming round, what I hate is the fecking smarmy letting agent ringing me up every day telling me to ring this man because he's tried to ring me and can't get hold of me!

The man is coming next week to look at the door, he phoned me last night!
