I meet with a group of fellow cycling enthusiasts in my local coffee shop, that happens to be situated inside a hotel. I've been told that we are no longer welcome and should never darken their door again.

AIBU to think my fellow unicyclists and I should be free to enjoy a latte without persecution?

I think you should take your complaint to the nethuns. They'll support you in taking it to the local paper.

ruddynorah · 16/03/2011 13:08

See there are loads of places you could go. Some great suggestions here. No need to stink out these nice cafes with your sweaty selves, doing your stretches in the gangway so no one can get to the napkins.

LessNarkyPuffin · 16/03/2011 13:08

Shock I can't believe people are being so lycraist. It's not my fault Boden don't do cyclewear [sob]

You are all very judgemental. The unicyclists might be allergic to cycle paths.

AmazingBouncingFerret · 16/03/2011 13:12

Actually thinking about it seriously I think you should take a look at this link I'm only thinking of your health OP!!

We make the other cyclists feel inadequate Kungfupanda. With our tight tight lycra and impressively large wheel

Ferret, I prefer to drink my coffee mounted Wink

Depends if you change your friend dirty pants on the coffee shop floor or not.

Oh and leave your uni or bi cycles outside. Then YANBU.

jasminetom · 16/03/2011 13:41

Absolutely ridiculous. On what grounds (no pun intended) did they ban you? Are you from an ethnic/religious minority? Obviously not or they wouldn't have dared. The management may reserve the right and all that but can they really discriminate in this way? By the way, I am not DMing saying that ethnic/religious minorities get all the rights above "others", just that they wouldn't have done it.

bupcakesandcunting · 16/03/2011 13:46

Oh, jasminetom...

TandB · 16/03/2011 13:48

[Ponders the 'no pun intended' comment]
[sees no pun]

"Ha! OP has registered here just to have this rant.

Check out very similar post on NetPsychos.com"

Surely this is a thread about a thread.

In my day people folded up their bikes and popped them in their pockets before meeting friends. In fact, what ever happened to flasks? I'm sure back in the day that you cyclists remained outdoors and used flasks for carrying your beverages. Non of this extra lycra with your chai latte. That's what's wrong with this country. People just can not be arsed.

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 16/03/2011 14:01

It depends what colour your bikes are!

Anyway if you substituted the word lemon for cyclists they wouldn't have dared ban you because it would be fruitist.

Lucyinthepie · 16/03/2011 14:03

YABU, cyclists smell, it's all that sweaty lycra. Puts me off my skinny late.

KatieWatie · 16/03/2011 14:49

kungfupanda think the pun was 'grounds' as in coffee... took me a while to get there though!

RunAwayWife · 16/03/2011 14:59

My friends and I were ask to leave a starbucks that we frequented to have work meetings, I think it is disgusting, their argument was that we took our work there with us, I ask you where on earth does it say on the door no elephant keepers allowed!
