To tell nosy parker neighbour to butt out?

We have just had our rabbit run delivered. After 4 years of pestering I have given into a pet, and we settled on a pair of rescue rabbits. Having spent £500 on a shed, an enormous run and the right bedding etc, plus another £60 when we pick the rabbits up, am I being unreasonable in asking the next door neighbour NOT to repeat his performance to the fabulous run builder man when the RSPCA inspector comes tomorrow?

"I hate rabbits. They're disgusting creatures, and hopefully the family of foxes that live at the bottom of the garden will have them within the week. If they come anywhere near my garden I'll shoot them." I don't want the RSPCA inspector to turn us down! He is old, and lonely, and never left home. He has also shown dd a number of teddies made from the skin of the rabbits he used to shoot!

I don't understand the problem really. It's not like the RSPCA inspector is going to take any notice if the guy isn't part of your household is he/she?

You have bought a run to keep the rabbits contained so there is no way it should affect your neighbour at all. Perhaps you could gently point out to him that his attitude is extremely distressing to you and your DC. He may think he is being funny.

You don't live on the other side of my next door neighbour, do you?

Seriously though, just wanted to send a bit of moral support. Hopefully he won't cause any trouble and I'm sure the RSPCA man will have met his type before. If he does poke his nose in, you may have to firmly poke it back out but I'm sure an interfering neighbour won't influence the inspector.

Good luck!

'Tis isn't it? You don't think they will perceive him as a Rabbit Threat? Grin

The teddies thing is weird. Does he use skin for other things? Just ignore him. And enjoy your bunnies :)

You guys are lovely. He apparently only cuddles them occasionally as they may deteriorate otherwise (shudder).

I have a possum skin hand puppet.

It's actually lovely and soft and gorgeous.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy your bunnies! Have just moved next door to someone who is using an old chicken coop for her buns so they have loads of room - 'tis lovely to see rabbits with lots of space.
