If it's so normal for women to have stretch marks on their stomach after childbirth...

why don't women show them more? I mean dress in mid tops, bikinis etc. By hiding them, it's like a dirty little secret.

What happens when you start dating? (if you're single) wouldn't it take your partner by surprise? by showing them with ease, everyone knows where they stand.

I think crop tops went our with the 90's......I dont have any on my tummy but still wouldnt go out with a top that shows my stomach.....why would I do that Wink - I am personally glad people keep their lumps and bumps covered up, nothing worse than seeing someone with their muffin top hanging out :)

who says stretch marks are normal?

peppapighastakenovermylife · 15/03/2011 13:55

I have 3 DC's and no stretchmarks.

However I am certainly not showing off my rather saggy tummy!

stripeymama · 15/03/2011 13:58

Someone I know calls them her 'flames of creation' Smile

I just don't show my stomach off much in general these days despite having relatively few stretchmarks.

Amazing poem on here about Mummy bodies by Hollie McNish.

agree with some of hte others that my (fairly minimal) stretch marks aren't the issue, it's the wrinkly cottage cheese stomach skin that bothers me most.

LadyOfTheManor · 15/03/2011 14:12

I can't say here in Wales it is the climate to be wandering about in crop tops. That, and the fact it isn't 1987.

Thankfully I have like 2, under my knicker line. I still don't wear a bikini and I'm not fat. I just don't approve of them now I have a child. (for me not for anyone else).

im a geographical map of europe.in braille.

i dont mind them tbh, they are my mark of honour but i wouldnt go around showing them off.even if i had a flat smooth belly i wouldnt go around showing it off.

may as well show my CS scars and appendix knot.

I agree MrsR. My tummy skin is more crepey and wizened than an 80 yr old's. I would much rather have a plumper tummy with a few stripes.
