imo she has every right to have another child on ML (maternity leave)

what right did her boss have to sack her

She suffered sexual discrimination and the employer tried to fabricate a redundancy situation to hide it. Genuine redundancies have to be carefully handled but it is perfectly legal to make someone on maternity leave redundant if the redundancy is a genuine one. This clearly wasn't and so she won.

I find it hard to see what is "taking the piss" about this. However I am also one of those scummy ambulance chasing lawyers who is shocked when people say things like "I am against the compensation culture" which can only mean that you do not believe you should have a right of redress if someone deliberately or negligently causes you loss, damage or injury. Which is unbelievably stupid.

Well, this lady has certainly tried to set a precidence for other ladies out there who dare to start a family whilst having a career. Well done to her & as she said this directly affects her daughter as well. I admire her for standing up for her & all womens' rights. In my opinion, she deserves the compensation & it took her a very long time to obtain this money, so I guess that to her it wasn;t about the compensation at all.

Also conceiving another child whilst on maternity leave is perfectly acceptable according to UK Law. She may have had an accident, or even if it was intentional, she had clearly put her career 1st for a number of years & time was against her. Some women have exceptional circumstances where they have only got a very small time slot to get another child in where health matters are concerned. Should women be denied this right for business reasons? I for one had to get my 2nd child in quickly as I have a health problem & I know for a fact that if I had left it too late I would not have had a 2nd child. It was hard enough having my 1st child, in fact she was a happy accident as my hubby & I thought that we could not have children. (I have a serious health problem for which I will always receive treatment as it is incurable). Not everything revolves around work, but I enjoyed my job, I was good at it, I was very qualified for it & was outraged when my employer did exactly the same thing to me. I suffered a sustained period of bullying from mymanager & collegues as soon as my 1st pregnancy was common knowledge. This was hard to handle, as I was trying to keep calm for my unborn baby's sake. I will not give up on fighting my corner on this one. The upside for me is I have 2 beautifull & healthy children that I never thought I would have. I would certainly hope that my daughter will not come up against this sort of thing in the future.
