To not understand the no hand hand wash pump?

That is it really, maybe I am missing something but if you are going to wash your hands with the anti bacterial liquid inside it will kill any germs off the so called "germy pump" anyway. Have just seen the advert saying that it is healthier for children but it isn't as though you touch the pump after you have washed your hands.My dc's would just think it was a new toy anyway and use all the soap up in a day {smile}

Yep! I said that as soon as I saw the ad. I'm surprised the company can't see the irony lol.

reinitindear · 14/03/2011 12:06

Glad it wasn't just me.

Even my ds who is 9 laughed at this! Grin

Themumsnot · 14/03/2011 12:08

My mother has one. So pointless. She is obsessed with gadgets though. She keeps buying me microwave omelette makers and the like.

HipHopopotomus · 14/03/2011 12:09

another product for the paranoid! (bless 'em) Grin

mrspear · 14/03/2011 12:10

aaaaahhhhhhh that bloody advert really winds me up!!!!

Why oh why do you need a hand free soap pump?!

Has anyone else noticed the more obsessed with germs we have got the more allegies etc ?

Rant over.

Yes OP with you completely!

cantspel · 14/03/2011 12:12

They do have their uses as my dad has really bad arthritis and they are so much easier for him to use.

Ray81 · 14/03/2011 12:12

I thought this too glas i am not the only one. Surely it is just common sense realy.

Chil1234 · 14/03/2011 12:14

YANBU The whole point, if you're a company devoted to the expansion of the personal hygiene industry, is to spread paranoia among the worried well that dirt lurks in places they hadn't formerly thought of. Clean your hands but the dispenser is dirty... oh no!.... so clean the dispenser and now your hands are dirty... OH NO!... so you need a hands-free solution to a problem you never knew you had in the first place. Gah!

MrsTittleMouse · 14/03/2011 12:15

Hm, so you turn on the tap with your germy hands, get the soap from your hands-free pump, wash your hands, and then turn off the germy tap with your sparkly clean hands. Hmm

Chil1234 · 14/03/2011 12:16

So what you're saying MrsTittleMous is that what's now needed is a hands-free tap..... But the towel, what about the towel?

reinitindear · 14/03/2011 12:16

Cantspel if it was marketed as and aid to help people like your Dad fair enough but it is portrayed in a way tat if you don't use it your kids are covered in germs!

OP posts:
MrsTittleMouse · 14/03/2011 12:19

I saw someone in a public loo washing her hands, drying them on a paper towel, and then using the paper towel to protect her hands as she switched off the tap. Very clever. Not sure how she turned the handle to get out of the Ladies though. :)

itisnotgoingwelltoday · 14/03/2011 12:25

Well I have one so NER Grin

Only because DD2 is tiny and can't reach up to the sink to push down the thingy on an ordinary pump.

When I say she's tiny I mean she's really really SMALL and hates it, so things that make her feel more "normal" and don't make her feel different and SMALL get a big tick in this house.

Ordinary one downstairs beside the sink though Grin

The ad is pointless, the product isn't - in some circumstances

BarbieLovesKen · 14/03/2011 12:41

Yeah, YANBU - I have to be honest, I didnt notice to be honest (the stupidity of the product) until DH pointed out how ridiculous it was when watching the ad one day.

squeakytoy · 14/03/2011 12:42

It is fine for the purpose of being easy to dispense.. and thats about it... the germ phobic paranoid public will of course keep the company directors getting their annual bonus..

FabbyChic · 14/03/2011 12:44

Totally pointless unless it dried your hands for you as well, assume you have to dry your hands after on a towel that may have germs on it?

I prefer the no wash liquid germy liquid soap. Far superior as you do not have to dry your hands after on a not 100% clean germ free towel.

squeakytoy · 14/03/2011 12:46

Even if it dried your hands as well, unless every door you go though opens automatically, you are still going to put germs on your little paws the minute you go into another room...

I do wonder how the human race has survived all this time.. it is amazing Grin

gallifrey · 14/03/2011 12:46

My daughter who is 7 managed to work that out too!!
