... to have been thoroughly un-scared by Paranormal Activity?

I have heard a few people mention it on here, and was rather looking forward to being spooked.

It never happened. It's not scary. There's potential for a massively scary film there, but they don't manage it, although as an armchair director I have a few suggestions. Grin

Well am I?

We didnt really rate it either. Altho it poss might have been spookier at home than it a crowded cinema on Orange Wednesday?!

MillyR · 13/03/2011 09:41

I thought it was scary. What would your suggestions be?

Onetoomanycornettos · 13/03/2011 09:42

Is this like another 'Blair Witch' thing? I saw that and the whole cimena was chuckling along in places not intended by the director. Hard to be scared by a load of old twigs with 200 people around you.

ElsieMc · 13/03/2011 09:42

Yes, I agree there have been a few like this recently. Another one is the Last Exorcism - good idea with great potential which turned into Rosemary's Baby....

Yanbu it was shit, wait till u see the 2nd one.

They should be the other way round. However both shit

Well MillyR. I think I would have been more scared by a bigger build-up of the idea of the demon possessing her. Like more looming over him, and maybe doing weird things then fiddling with the camera so Micah can't see it the next day so there's more of a dichotomy between the evil Katie at night and the scared Katie through the day. Not to extremes, I think the domesticity and realism needed to be there, but I didn't find the ending shocking and if it wasn't going to be a complete shock then it needed a more scary build up I think.

Tortington · 13/03/2011 10:34

purepurple · 13/03/2011 10:40

YANBU
I was massively disappointed too. It was very boring and not in the least bit scary.
I have heard that the second one is better but am not interested in seeing it now.

celebmum · 13/03/2011 11:47

I didnt sleep for a week..... I was terrified of the 'demon' pulling at my covers!!!! .......maybe I'm a scardy cat!!!!

Depends if you believe demons etc exist.
I quite enjoyed it, but a friend of mine had to switch it off as she believes in all that stuff and didn't want to watch it as it scares her.

I was really scared by Paranormal Activity. So was DP.

One of these nights, I'm going to get up in the night and stand by the bed looking at him, just to freak him out! Grin

I was really scared by Blair Witch Project too. I am a total wuss.

trixie123 · 13/03/2011 16:49

haven't seen it cos DP did and reckoned it was really scary. Am not a wuss while I watch them but if I am on my own the house months later I will think about a scary film and get spooked.

ninah · 13/03/2011 16:52

it was crap
waited til I was alone in the house, it was pretty late, and STILL nothing
in fact I fell asleep

MillyR · 13/03/2011 17:13

I'm not sure if I found it scary because I am a complete coward or because the less that happens the more plausible it is.

I really regret watching the Blair witch project as I am now a bit scared of walking my dogs in the dark. Prior to watching it I was confident that bad things only happens indoors.

purepurple · 13/03/2011 17:18

I was disappointed with the ending of the Blair witch project. It was not scary at all.

LucyInTheSkyWithAntiHistamines · 13/03/2011 17:35

I didn't find it (or Blair Witch) scary at all...and I'm a self confessed wuss when it comes to any sort of scary films. I was terrified to go to the loo alone after Jeepers Creepers and that one set in the London Underground (name eludes me just now) asnd they were crap. Even 'I Am Legend' freaked me out (and continues to haunt me, especially while walking the dogs at dark) that's how wussy I am normally.

MillyR · 13/03/2011 17:41

I was really scared when I went to see Scrooge at the theatre, so I think I am just a coward.

Tomorrowslookingfine · 13/03/2011 18:41

LucyInTheSky Is it Creeper your talking about? I hate taking late night tubes/trains thanks to that film!

Tomorrowslookingfine · 13/03/2011 18:41
  • Not creeper - creep Blush
Triggles · 13/03/2011 19:08

I wasn't scared by the Blair Witch. I spent my time counting the times they had to "swear expressively" because apparently the director felt it added to the film. It was so ridiculous it made me laugh more than anything. Grin

MooMooFarm · 13/03/2011 19:12

Paranormal Activity freaked me out - partly because for years I've frequently woken to see a figure standing next to the bed, whatever house I've been living in (as with the character in the film) Shock. Apparently in my case it's probably to do with night terrors, but you never know....

But not many horror films scare me usually - I thought Blair Witch was laughably bad.
