Indian takeaway

My husband thinks I am BU because I always order the same food because I know I like it. He changes his order all the time and is disappointed as often as he is pleased.

I really can't be arsed to buy stuff I might hate - what a waste of a takeaway!

we used to have a mongolian restaurant. it was lovely.
Nothing wrong with saying you are having an indian or chinese meal. it is wrong to use a derogatory term in exchange of those.

HeidiKat · 14/03/2011 14:11

We have a Nepalese too, I was there on Friday for a meal and very tasty it was too. Smile

Rohanda · 14/03/2011 18:25

May be Nepalese it isn't so rare as I thought..

or..

it's all the same restaurant!Smile

It is racist to eat anything other then roast beef or fish and chips don't you know!

I am going to report the yellow pages for racism as they list Indian take aways Chinese Take aways and a host of others also the term take away is wrong if you are getting it delivered.

Can I just point out that having been raised in an area where a massive amount of Indian people lives and eating in some very good places as well as in the homes of many Indian friends I make it a point to never go in to a place full of white people eating as yes it will be English-a-fide, stick to the places the Indian people go to and you will get good food.

Poop missed my Grins out of last post

HappyAsIAm · 15/03/2011 11:13

YANBU

I always order the same thing too. Its part of the enjoyment of an Indian takeaway to me. Because then you can look forward to it, with mouth watering, and know that its going to be good. It would eb awful to be disappointed!

I always have Railwaymans Lamb from our local restaurant/takeaway. Lamb on the bone, in a spicy spinach (sorry - sag) sauce/gravy with potatos (ahem - aloo). Divine. Simply divine.

DastardlyandSmugly · 15/03/2011 11:15

I change regularly although I always have a daal but DH gets the same every time.

Morloth · 15/03/2011 11:16

Lamb Korma, Onion Bhaji, Garlic naan and lots of mango chutney.

Skifit · 15/03/2011 11:28

RunAwayWife...i think your thoughts are wrong.
So if Indians refuse to eat fish and chips etc, then they are racist too are they ? ridiculous!
I eat everything, from every country. If someone asks for an omelette in an Indian restaurant i would hardly regard them as racist.

ethelina · 15/03/2011 12:23

I've never imagined indian (or any other) takeaway as racist. They provide a service, we pay them for it, they make money. Where's the race issue?

I eat the same thing at each place I go to, so whilst I may always order that there I go somewhere different next time and order something different.

Not sure if this has been said as I left the page open awhile but the racism thing is not about what you do or don't order in there, it's the term "Indian" when talking about the food. I don't agree with it, Indian food, Chinese food, Italian food etc are used all the time by Yellow Pages, the places themselves etc it's descriptive - food from India.

TrillianAstra · 15/03/2011 13:28

I prefer to eat food that has been English-ified a bit actually. I want nice pieces of chickem breast or thigh, not knuckley bits or feet.

TrillianAstra · 15/03/2011 13:29

"I fancy an Indian" without any context could mean more than one thing Wink

RunAwayWife · 15/03/2011 19:11

Skifit, I was attempting to ridicule the fact someone thought that getting an Indian was racist, but this is mumsnet so there is always one!

Skifit · 15/03/2011 19:50

Oh I see.

stuffthenonsense · 15/03/2011 21:13

oh but you could be missing out on a real treat if you dont try something new occasionally, and would you be happy if your child only ever ate one thing?

just as an aside, what is considered a 'normal' meal when having indian-style food?
do people ever manage the popadums, starter, curry, rice, side and naan????? i tend to struggle on pops and a curry but feel i have to order rice? am i just a lightweight?
