DH has just gone on an emergency trip to the supermarket and I had written a list. Before he left we had a conversation that went something like this:

Me "Have you got your phone on you?"
DH "No, the battery's dead"
Me "Ok take mine"
DH "I don't need a phone"
Me "But what if you need to ask me something while in the shop?"
DH "I won't, I'll just buy what I think is right"
Cue Hmm face from me

Dh leaves and as I hear the car leave the drive I see the shopping list where dh was just sitting. Obviously he has no phone so is now going to wander aimlessly round the shop buying what he likes.

He's going to come back with shopping bags full of potato cakes, pot noodles, tinned tomatos and garlic paste.

So Would IBU to send him back out again if he forgets my Egg Custards?

I'll suggest that to him Magna thanks! It would also make use of the rest of the Tiger loaf that we don't manage to eat tonight!

My boyfriend does the whole "i don't need anything" when I ask if there's anything he wants when I do a food shop.

Then when I get back, minus coffee, he'll ask why there's none... Erm, because I don't drink coffee so dont check the jar everytime I go shopping to see if you need any!

I'm just impressed at all these people who have dh's who can find their own way to a supermarket, go in, and buy things. My dh forgot how to do much of this once I became a SAHM (which I didn't mind too much as he was working quite long hours, I wasn't, and it meant that we could spend time together in the evenings. Obviously, that was before I found MN...!). And when I went back to work, part-time, he still couldn't go because he had 'the baby to look after' which seems to have meant that anything else (housework etc) was physically impossible. Me pointing out that I manage perfectly well both looking after her and visiting the shops (and cleaning, and cooking) only induces what he clearly thinks is a winning smile and 'You're amazing' said in a slightly sheepish voice!! Am still waiting for him to relocate the food stores, and our dd is now 2....
