Was having a rubbish day at work, I work in a well known shop. Feeling crappy as I am pregnant and it all got too much, I had to walk away from someone complaining to me as I was about to burst into tears.

Basically a lady wanted to buy some tops but when i checked she knew they weren't in the offer ( there's a 342 offer but shed picked up a sale item), she tole me I was wrong. I know it won't go through the till if it's in the sale so try to explain but she pulls out a receipt saying it was last time she came. I had a look and it's clear the item details are different, I try to show here this but she starts saying I'm wearing the top and what I am saying is clearly falling on deaf ears.

I tried to find someone to help but end up having to shout for some help. Noons was coming so I had to leave the lady to find the manager. I can feel everyone looking at me, this woman is not happy and can't understand why I can just make the till give it her for free.

So i find mymanager and explain she says she can't have it free and I have to find out who did it last time from the reciept the customer has!!!! It gets worse when I return now her dh is there and she looks like she's gonna burst into tears. Why didn't my manager come and talk to them? They say forget it and start to walk off, I say I need to see the receipt to find out who served they last time and the refuse.

I'm just getting myself back together again and I see the dh comng towards me, CRAP!!! He starts saying he's going to complain about me and wants my name. I tell him my name but he wants my surname as well I refuse togive it to him. I'm feelingvery wobbly now. I tell him I don't have togive him my surname but he keeps going on. I have to get away before I burset into tears like his wife, o manage to find my manager to run in the back crying. I know she was with him a while but she's told me well talk about it next tome I'm in and not to get stressed out, afterall it's only a couple of tops.

So AIBU?

Was this today :)

purepurple · 12/03/2011 15:40

I think the customer is always right, they sounded like perfectly reasonable customers and you should probably consider handing in your notice with immediate effect. Grin

LadyOfTheManor · 12/03/2011 15:47

I've read the other thread on this.

YABU you work in Mothercare and because of that the customer is always right as Mothercare are always in the wrong. Get over yourself you troll.

Melly19MummyToBe · 12/03/2011 16:04

Hmmmmmm. Seems a bit too coincidental that the exact same thing was posted here earlier by the customers DH Hmm

TheMonster · 12/03/2011 16:08

I think a £15 gift voucher to say sorry should do it Grin

caughtinanet · 12/03/2011 16:11

No, a £15 gift voucher would be adding insult to injury.

Underachieving · 12/03/2011 16:21

In which case I'll make it easier for you by quietly rehoming the stray £15 gift voucher here and now. I don't mind shopping where staff don't courtsey to me. Grin

Gemsy83 · 12/03/2011 16:30

Fancy making such a fragile wee person and her marvellously supportive and defensive DH so 'distressed'.
Id be laughing my ass off at the fuckwittery of it all to be honest not crying!

IWorkInMothercare · 12/03/2011 16:56

But what about what they did to me, my dh isn't very happy you know how protective they get when you're pg
