And he was WRONG the bastard.

And he called me a fool, he's a fool, he thought the cooked sausagemeat and breadcrumbs were wrapped around the egg on a conveyor belt, not much better than my 'egg cooked inside and the shell sucked out' theory

Wine

So we were both wrong, but is wrongness was more wrong iiiiii think

Although that cook looked a bit dodgy!

squeakytoy · 12/03/2011 11:08

I made Hestons scotch eggs, which are soft boiled, and they are really lovely. And very easy to make as well.

diddl · 12/03/2011 11:13

"to show how stoooooopid you both are"

But that´s home made ones.

How are mass produced ones made?

Rohanda · 12/03/2011 11:14

diddl - just quicker. and more of them.Grin

diddl · 12/03/2011 11:17

You forgot-and crap qualityGrin

But you´re probably right.

ratspeaker · 12/03/2011 11:19

wrong wrong wrong

North of the Border we all know that Scotch eggs are really haggis eggs.
The rough breadcrumb bit is camouflage amongst the gorse and heather where they are laid in the autumn until covered by snow in the winter
The "sausagemeat" bit is the first meal the wee babies get as they wait for the snow to thaw before emerging in the spring

thumbwitch · 12/03/2011 11:31

ratspeaker - love it! Grin

Rohanda · 12/03/2011 11:34

rats - makes utter sense now. thanks.

ApocalypseCheeseToastie · 12/03/2011 20:45

Mmmm, can you really get haggis eggs ?? Shock

OP posts:
happiestblonde · 12/03/2011 20:49

SHELL SUCKED OUT? NUTJOB

bronze · 12/03/2011 23:18

Only the eggs of the lesser spotted haggis are edible

FannyFifer · 12/03/2011 23:23

You have to be careful when collecting their eggs as they are vicious bastards!

Honeydragon · 12/03/2011 23:28

I make Scotch eggs the normal way boil, peel, sausagemeat, crumbs deep fry.

However my MiL is the master scotch egg make as she made SQUARE ones, not just the outside, the egg in the middle too! Grin, to be more convenient in Tupperware for picnics etc. I finally got her to bestow the secret of the square egg though.

I had a (drunken) argument about how arctic rolls are made with DP, ending up with me crying and shouting 'I know how fucking baked alaskas are made as well' before slamming the door and going upstairs to cry into my pillow.

You get ice cream and then put cake mix round the outside and then bake it very quickly in a hot oven. DP was adamant that the cake was baked and then rolled round the outside of the ice cream when it was cold. I shoutingly demonstrated with an arctic roll that the cake would be all cracked if that was the case. DP maintained that it was impossible to put ice cream in a hot oven.

We do not shout or argue at all usually, so christ knows why we did so over arctic roll.

We have not had arctic roll since. I have not drunk gin either Grin

GetOrfMoiLand · 12/03/2011 23:30

Honeydragon does she make the boiled eggs in an ice cube tray?

Links not your friend tonight purveyor?

What did you do to upset them?

Love the egg cuber, great for sarnies.

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 12/03/2011 23:44

I bake my homemade ones in the oven rather than frying them, they turn out just the same but often the sausagemeat splits a bit.

I've often wondered about the shop bought ones as they're round, with no discernible 'seams' and the egg is rattling around in there... a puzzle to this day. Blush

Honeydragon · 12/03/2011 23:45

She used a egg press back then you could only get them in the states so we all thought she had powers of witchcraft.

She also had some of those bento moulds and would do boiled egg fishes and teddies Grin

Cuboid scotch eggs are cool ..... I have a real hankering to make some now. They are lovely freshly cooked and still warn.

MrsFlittersnoop · 12/03/2011 23:46

Scotch Egg? Bloody luxury. We had a flaming stand-up row the other lunchtime about how to boil a sodding egg.

My egg was completely raw. Totally liquid. No way boiled for the requested 4 mins. DS (14) walked out of lunch and yelled to "shut up 'cos we're behaving like kids".

DH finally admitted he'd boiled the egg for 4 minutes with only 1/2 inch water in the pan.

Why the fuck have I married a man who cannot boil a chuffing egg?

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 12/03/2011 23:47

I can't boil an egg, not unless it's hard boiled. I have an egg-boiler machiney thing for dippy eggs... Blush

MrsFlittersnoop · 12/03/2011 23:50

In our defense - we both gave up smoking last week. And we are on Champix, which has v. weird side-effects (an anti-psychotic medication to help stop smoking... )

And we are both on strict diets. So I guess we have some excuse Blush.

He is still a knobber.
