Went to see King Lear last night. It's a dialogue based play and at points you had to strain to hear, (despite the impressive voice projection of the actors) It was an old and creaky theatre and there was a wee bit of whispering which was irritating but fine. However, after the interval a number of people had obviously bought sweets or crisps and you could barely hear a word over the rustling of sweetie bags.

FGS. Surely to God people can leave the sweets alone for the hour that comprises the second half of King Lear? It drives me mad at the cinema but I've stopped going got used to it. Am I being a ridiculous snob? I felt it ruined the performance for me.

Oh I don't know...it is M n Ms we're talking about Grin

It's annoying when you're trying to watch something and somebody interrupts, but then you're at the theatre, so noise and distractions are all part of the live experience.

Shakespeare's not my thing, but did you do what I've read posters guffawing about on here and laugh loudly and knowingly at the jokes? Grin

God, no. I didn't have a clue what was going on. But I maintain that was because of the rustley sweet wrappers and not cos I'm thick. Grin

Apologies to any shakey buffs, but I went to see Henry V (I think) in some open air theatre, thinking I'd just catch on to what it was about by the acting and shit.

It was the biggest load of guff I ever had the pleasure of sitting for hours in the cold to see.

If the internet was about at the time I suppose I'd have enjoyed it more if I knew the rough layout of what was going on.
