To really hate people who don't pull down the hoods on buggies in the sun?

Seriously, it does my head in! I always see people pushing buggies towards the sun (I only ever see them heading towards the sun, for some reason!) with the hoods right up, and the poor child in said buggy with a bright red face all scrunched up because they can't see for the sun in their eyes! Does this really bug anyone else or just me?? I just wonder with some people, if you're having difficulty in seeing if you're walking into the sun the surely the child must be aswell???

Oh blimey - if you have enough time to get worked up about that, you need a hobby! Grin

valiumredhead · 11/03/2011 15:35

Melly - have you had your baby yet? Ime we are all parenting experts until the day of the birth Grin

thefirstMrsDeVere · 11/03/2011 15:44

OP YABU. Sorry but you are.
Saying that though:

Before I had PR for DS2 I used to accompany him and his birth mum (my neice) when they went out. He was very little and the sun was very strong. I would suggest we walked on the shady side of the road and she flatly refused.

'No, I want to get my rays innit. Its not fair if I have to walk in the shade' Hmm

I bought a sunshade for the buggy but she said it was too hard to use as she would have to keep moving it around. Hmm again.

twilight3 · 11/03/2011 15:45

So OP, are you saying that you're more considerate of these children's well-being and happines than their own mothers???

Melly19MummyToBe · 11/03/2011 15:45

Quite the opposite, I know bugger all about parenting to be honest. Who does until they become a parent? I just know that spending too much time in the sun can cause skin damage, especially those with delicate skin aka, young children!

Ok I have come up with a solution!!!

When they sun is facing you and you HAVE to go in that direction ...fit wing mirrors to said buggy and walk BACKWARDS. The sun is not on said childs face!!!

DooinMeCleanin · 11/03/2011 15:48

Sun? What is this? Confused

YABU btw.

DamselInDisguise · 11/03/2011 15:52

not only wing mirrors, get one of those reversing noises you get on lorries, just to warn people!

TheLadyEvenstar · 11/03/2011 15:53

Don't be scared but this is the sun

NestaFiesta · 11/03/2011 15:53

Melly, what exactly are you objecting to? Letting the sun get in a baby's eyes or basting them in the sun without SPF50? Which is it? and also, (this crops up a lot on Mumsnet), you cannot judge someone else's parenting from a mere passing snapshot of their life.

twilight3 · 11/03/2011 15:53

TLE, there would still be someone to hate you for putting your child indanger in some made up way....

TheLadyEvenstar · 11/03/2011 15:54

See what the sun brings?

DooinMeCleanin · 11/03/2011 15:55

Oh jesus if that's the sun then YANBU Shock

Luckily we don't have any 'sun' oop north. Just lots of grey Grin

TheLadyEvenstar · 11/03/2011 15:58

The sun is worrying!!

d0gFace · 11/03/2011 15:59

I miss the sun :(

TheLadyEvenstar · 11/03/2011 15:59

Dooin, its ok you could try this....

Moonbathing

Diablo82 · 11/03/2011 16:01

YABU - do you really have nothing better to be indignant about?

DooinMeCleanin · 11/03/2011 16:02

Grin. I could, I might freeze to death, but I could.

The moon looks so much friendlier than the sun. DO we have to shield children from that too?

Melly19MummyToBe · 11/03/2011 16:04

I'm not judging anyones parenting! I was simply saying I don't like seeing young children/babies in buggies being forced to sit directly under the sun and bake! What's wrong with that???

OP posts:
DamselInDisguise · 11/03/2011 16:06

That is judging people's parenting, OP. It cannot be otherwise. You're making a judgement upon their parenting practices and decisions (and one based on no knowledge and experience of the situation).

TheLadyEvenstar · 11/03/2011 16:06

OMG Dooin, have you no idea what happens to children exposed to moonlight??? Shock

DamselInDisguise · 11/03/2011 16:06

Of course, AIBU is the home of judging other people's parenting, so feel free to admit it.

valiumredhead · 11/03/2011 16:06

Nothing is wrong, nothing at all and you are right.

Laska · 11/03/2011 17:15

YABU. Vitamin D Grin
