To insist my ds goes to college instead of sixth form at his school

The sixth form at my dc's school is useless, my dd is in year 13 now and regrets staying on,

My ds has to decide soon what he is gonna do and wants to further his education, a few of his friends plan to stay at the school so he wants to as well but I think he would be be wasting his time and will be better off going to college,

He cannot see my point and says i'm being very unreasonable.

Is there not a grade band table on the back of the results slip?

nightime · 12/03/2011 20:48

no nothing on the back of the reults slip,

I was gobsmacked tonight when she told me that she had been told by a teacher that only so many could be passed.

Say 200 enter, the first 50 pass a c grade would get that, anyone after will fail, no matter whether they get a A or B.

I think it is disgusting.

She reckons as her school has a history of entering the exam suff late then even before they mark them she is guuarented a fail,

When A students get an U something has to be wrong.

I am pretty sure that is rubbish.....maybe start a new thread about results?

What exam board is she under, there should be all the info online somewhere

I cannot answer that now as she has gone to bed as she has work in the morning,

All I know is that she told me that that the first so many passes actually pass, her school entererd late and even the A students failed, The school is gonna follow up on this,

I believe her as how can getting 25 and then 57 marks in the same exam result in the same overall grade, we have the paperwork here to prove it, she should have at least gone up a grade.

Back in the old 'O' and 'A' level grades only so many people passed at certain grades, as it was the top 10& who got an A etc. but now it isnt like that

It sounds to me like the teacher is trying to blame the exam board for bad teaching to me
