you spent how much???

I really can't believe anyone would spend so much money on a potty it is truly shocking.

I would love to know how many they sell a year?

Thanks, bmc.

Wow, we never used a potty. Our DD went straight on to the proper toilet, no special seats or anything. Now I feel a bit mean!

Mendeleyev · 11/03/2011 19:50

The review is tremendous! I think you should add some more reviews Chaos. Maybe start with the £30 maternity scarf.

PigValentine · 11/03/2011 19:54

Northeastgirl don't worry, DS1 didn't use a potty, my mum had one at her house and he refused point blank to sit on it. He didn't go out of nappies till his 3rd birthday, either, but he was dry straight away.

I think DS2 would love a flushing potty, but after DS1 I refuse to spend any money on one!

The3Bears · 11/03/2011 19:55

I spent £20 on a bumbo toilet seat it was great really hygenic as you didt have to put it under the toilet seat just sit it on top.:)

Emo76 · 11/03/2011 20:54

"it looks similar to a real toilet"....no it doesn't!!

What an utter waste of money.

Driftwood999 · 11/03/2011 21:06

Oh dear, too much choice in the market! As if your DC's know the difference! A squat is a squat all over the world. The smaller the better, the better to pack into the car etc... The less invasive into other people's homes. We still have the "turtle", it's a potty, a step stool and seat...parents that visited asked if we could "look after it", that was 3 years ago...waste of space. Horrible thing, all lines and edges, not like the basic helmet style that did well for decades.

ShinyMoonInAPurpleSky · 11/03/2011 21:15

Ds is nowhere near ready to be toilet trained yet but I won a pourty potty when he was 4 months old. I have obviously yet to use it as a potty so can't comment on it's effectiveness but it's very useful for swilling the bath out after the cat shits in it. I don't need to keep telling people why one of our pans lives on top of the toilet anymore (and the pan has been returned to it's home in the kitchen cupboard).

buttonmooncup · 11/03/2011 21:31

Driftwood. My DD definitely knew the difference between hard plastic and a cushioned seat. The last thing you need when you're trying everything to encourage your child onto the potty is for them to be put off because it's uncomfortable. Obviously some kids get on fine with the cheapo ones or straight onto the big toilet but I can assure you that my all singing/dancing potty was a godsend after the stress of trying to get dd to sit for 10 seconds on a cheap one.

mmsmum · 11/03/2011 21:34

I don't know the 'going rate' for a potty so if I were busy I might go and buy one and not think anything was wrong. Like most new parents I have never bought a potty (DD went straight to toilet) and would have spent so much time researching more important things that I would just go and pick up a potty

Driftwood999 · 11/03/2011 21:48

These DC's that go straight to the toilet, how old were they, around 2? The basic potty I refer to can be used from say 10 months. Oh dear, really don't want to argue about this, we obviously have had different experiences. Just don't indulge them. Imagine if fancy pottys caught on in China, which they won't, they have too much sense.
