Ok I know that 'there's no such thing as a free lunch' but when my mobile phone provider offered a present for topping-up I made a mistake in following it up. Free nuts were apparently going to be sent. (Though I would definately prefer cheaper calls...) I signed up and even though the company asked for my bank details, it also reassured me that I could cancel after the first free box. So I did. They then said the second one would be half price... So I let the 'subscription' run for a week. Of course I have been charged for both and when I e-mailed to let them know, unsurprisingly they told me that a weekly delivery was what I'd requested.

I am just so cross that everything seems to be a con. AIBU?

leroymerlin - that happened to me last month. Once I saw I had to give bank details (which of course I could cancel if I could be bothered), I decided the free nuts weren't worth it, but then I wanted the other freebie for topping up which was just extra minutes on my phone - much simpler. But couldn't go back on it. I tried phoning them - pointless.

In the end I had a weird 'chat'conversation with someone online. I explained I'd changed my mind - wasn't a freebie at all - rant, rant. She didn't understand .... but in the end she gave me extra minutes, extra texts to reassure me I was such a valued customer, thought she mind throw in extra nuts for talking to her. What a waste of time. Bit Blush for even bothering about £1 of calls. It must be a kind of OCD.

I have learnt - top up freebie should be minutes on the phone.

inkyfingers - thankyou, I would have taken the credit too, it wasn't offered this time so i thought I'd put my name down for something that reasonably didn't sound like it should cost me.

I too have learnt. when will I ever learn Hmm
