to think that the TP Toys Forest Tower is too small for 5/6 year old?

I have a dd turning 5yr and a ds about to turn 2yr. We wanted to buy a combined present of some outdoor play equipment.

I really liked the TP Forest Tower - my younger son would love the swing and slide. My daughter would like the swing and the climbing ropes/fireman's pole.

They state that it is for 3-10 yr olds but we have looked at the measurements (95cm to slide platform and swing 2metres high) and I think my almost 5yr old daughter may already find it too small. The slide is very short, and how much of a 'swing' can you really get going on the swings?

Does anyone have any of the Forest range?

Am I being unreasonable in thinking that it's really for 3-6 year olds and not practically for 3-10 yr olds?

Does anyone have any better suggestions?

I don't know, playground swing height seems just a bit taller than me, I'm 1.71m so 2m would be normal wouldn't it?

Here is a link to the equipment I am talking about...

Forest Tower

The children all look quite young. Would a 6/7/8 year old like playing on this?

I think my 6 year old would be fine but 9/10 might be pushing it a little.

I agree Fernie - I think it is too young for a 9/10 year old

Our friends have that climbing frame and have a 4, 6 and 8 year old. My girls have played on it at 5 and 3. The 5 year old loves it but can see by 8 she would be bored with it. She is already starting to want onto the larger climbing frame at the playpark and it would be higher than this. It is a nightmare with the 3 year old as the bars you climb up to get to the slide platform are very far apart and hard to climb between so she needs helped all the time with it. Traditional rungs to climb a ladder she can do unaided. So you may have some trouble with your younger child trying to climb the bars.

Thanks so much Fresh. That's exactly what I was wondering. Fine for one year or maybe two but then she's going to find it a little boring I think.

We have a similar one from TP and the best bit was you could change all the swing seats and climbing options (we put a small climbing wall and a rope ladder on ours). Therefore we have it from when our DS1 was 3 and out DS2 was 0 and they still use it now - they sit in the tower and make dens and stuff.

Just a word of warning, make sure you use anchors for the swing end posts as they can lift off the ground if not anchored in and keep the dome cover clean and free of leaves and debris as it can go mouldy (ours did)

How old are your children now notbyalongchalk?
