Toddler stood on counter in dry cleaners

Hammy02 · 09/03/2011 10:24

Took a couple of DP's suits to dry cleaners yesterday, walked in and there was a toddler stood on the counter while his dad held him up. I didn't know what to do so just turned round and walked out, saying nothing. I didn't want to put a couple of expensive suits down where the kid's shoes had been. Given that there is a huge thread on not wearing shoes indoors, surely I wasn't being unreasonable.

The suits were about to be cleaned, so does it matter?

FollowMe · 09/03/2011 10:25

werent the suits dirty anyway and about to be cleaned?
All the clean ones will have plastic protective covers on them

Eh???

nethunsreject · 09/03/2011 10:26

Oh, fgs.

LadyOfTheManor · 09/03/2011 10:27

Are you serious? If the suits needed cleaning what difference does it make? (Thinks of polishing the banister with a sock as she takes the dirty washing down the stairs...)

YABU and quite precious.

DramaInPyjamas · 09/03/2011 10:27

YABU. And precious.

YABU, sorry.

Phew, glad to see the replies above
I sometimes let my DS (aged 2.5) sit (not stand) on counters, making sure his shoes do not touch the counter. He loves to "help" mummy pay at the till and take the change.
Would that be acceptable OP?

MilkNoSugarPlease · 09/03/2011 10:32

Seriously? No, really, seriously??!!

coppertop · 09/03/2011 10:39

Poor toddler, being forced to stand on a counter near trousers that had once contained a man's arse.

Terrible.

AmazingBouncingFerret · 09/03/2011 10:40

Is this a joke?

Jaydles · 09/03/2011 10:42

When I saw the title I presumed it was going to be toddler on counter as a safety thing not as a I don't want to get my dirty suits dirty thing. YABU. Just to point out my ds also sits on the counter in shops - unless it is glass as he is heavy :)

AmazingBouncingFerret · 09/03/2011 10:42

You turned round and walked out

Really?

Could maybe understand your reaction if you'd all been in Costas (or any other over-priced coffee shop) but in the dry-cleaners...

Really?

celebmum · 09/03/2011 10:43

So ur concern is more for DP dirty suits, than the safety of said toddler stood on the counter top?!?

Grip getting time OP!!

Nancy66 · 09/03/2011 10:44

This is like something you'd read in Viz:

I went into the dry cleaners yesterday and asked for a pint of milk. The woman behind the counter said 'I'm sorry, we don't sell milk. This is a dry cleaners.'
How dare they. I've been going there for 12 years. I shall take my custom elsewhere.

Unwind · 09/03/2011 10:46

Have you or your DH ever picked up a toddler?

That way you get footprints, hand prints and snail trail.

IME anyway

squeakytoy · 09/03/2011 10:47

If this was a bakers, butchers, or anywhere selling food, then you would have a valid point, but its a dry cleaners, so you are being ridiculous!

Bogeyface · 09/03/2011 11:02

Good attempt at a wind up but you need to put more effort in to your threads in future. Do not steal someone elses idea and try to make it your own
