to be scared that my DD(12) is going for an MRI with contrast dye

I have just had a look on the net (yes stupid I know!!) and now I am shitting myself for her. It doesn't help that we have been to four different docs who have given us four different diagnosis so feeling uptight and she is petrified too. Anyway, is this type of MRI risky or have I just landed on the wrong websites. I didn't want to ask the doc too many questions in front of her as she is already fraught with all the other docs opinions. TIA

I have had an MRI at 18 wks pregnant. They don't use X-rays and are harmless. The staff were more concerned about the noise unsettling the baby than anything else! I'm only adding the pregnancy bit to try and show you just how completely safe it is, far safer even than an x-ray would be. I've had a CT with and without dye (gladinolium (sp?)) and it's absolutely fine.
I really feel for your DD being scared of GA, I would be too and I'm a bit older than her :) and so should be beyond what is really an irrational fear.

It's done and I won't lie it was awful. She was terrified and we had to force her to do it. It was painful for her but the Docs and Radiologist were very understanding. The worst part of it all now is that they still cannot identify the problem, it's still not obvious so we know she has an unstable hip but they don't know why. Anyway, just wanted to update those who were kind enough to reply.

Which country are you in Buddhastic? If you are not 100% happy with the care and diagnoses from the doctors in your country of residence, would your insurance cover you to be seen abroad?

It may come to checking it out when I am home in the Summer. Insurance will cover. Am just confused as to where to go from here so that at least would be an option. Thanks

If you can manage it, I highly recommend Sultan Qaboos University hospital in Oman. They managed the encephalitis of a friend phenomenally well and delivered my DD.
Alternatively, BNH in Bangkok has an outstanding orthopaedics centre.

@Savvy1 this is an old thread, I think you'll need to start a new thread to ask for advice as some of these posters might not even be on here anymore.
