to be worried about the quality of the boxes I send in for Construction Corner?

The DC's school positively encourages parents to send boxes and wrapping in to be recreated into hideous and bulky beautiful creations.

I have wondered whether my parenting skills will be judged on the of my offerings?

I have sifted out a Paxo box, Lidl cereal boxes and Morrison's after eight (equivalent) box as the Mommy Helper (PTA busybody extaordinaire) is the one who we hand these things to, and I'm sure the value judgements about my purchasing morals would be debated with great glee at the next Cliquey Coffee Morning. Sad

So, I am sending in Curious Chocolate boxes, Hotel Chocolate paraphenalia, and CK ribbon and Boden tissue paper in a Selfridge's bag in the hope of impressing ProperClenchyMom for the children to enjoy.

(It was my birthday btw, that's not a weekly shop.)

So AIBU to be concerned about the calibre of my crap?

When DD was at nursery amongst the boxes I sent in was an empty malt whisky box.

Two days later we got it back beautifully decorated, her keyworker told us that apparently DD had said to her "Daddy will like this, he has loads of these boxes at home..." cue much embarrassment.....

(NB DH may have a couple of whisky boxes but not "loads" Grin)

I've just been dithering over an egg box, which was destined for school crafts! It's a Morrisons value free range box, but will the teacher notice the 'free range' or just assume we buy cheap battery eggs because they packaging screams 'CHEAP CRAP'?

I once cried in the infants because I was given an empty Anais Anais box with which to create something, and when I opened it it smelt of my mum and I suddenly really missed her.

My daughter is too old for this now, but it's the sort of thing I would be worried about...like when you got to take the dratted bear home for the weekend, and instead of vegging out relaxing, we felt like we had to do this something interesting and worthy to write in his dam book!

I had a giggle when shifting a pile of junk for modelling from one part of my classroom to the other and found.. not 1, not 2 but 17 smartprice panty liner boxes. We'd only been collecting for two days Shock

I'm a teacher and can honestly say I have never judged any parent on the stuff they send in! I've never given it more than a passing glance as I've tipped it into a storage box, and have just usually been thankful to get stuff as it is always a popular activity and is used up really quickly. For future reference I have found that kitchen roll tubes (not loo rolls, they're not allowed these days) and small yoghurt pots are the most popular items among little model makers, to stick onto cuboid shaped boxes.
