to think the Headteacher should introduce herself to parents?

The primary that my ds attends has a new Head who started just after Christmas. She has never formally introduced herself to the parents and I have no idea what she looks like as she never makes herself known to parents in the school yard. I think this is a bit odd as I would like to know who is running the school!

AIBU - do you think this is this bad practice?

Yes I think it's bad practice.

This is something the HT of my kid's old Infant school feels very strongly about. She's there every single morning (unless an emergency crops up) on the school steps to ring the bell. She makes sure that she and the Deputy Head are out there at least 15mins before school starts and tries her best to be out there at 3pm too (though by then she's usually busy)

Maybe she's a hypnotist and she's already introduced herself, made you forget it and programmed you to cluck like a chicken when anyone says 'roundabout'.

I forgot to add that the old Head of the Juniors (seperate school but attached by ajoining gate) was never in the playground in the mornings or the afternoons..but the new Head (his old Deputy) is out there come rain or shine, shaking hands with parents and generally waving to kids etc.

I don't know why, I just think it's nice to see them involved rather than hidden away in the office.

That is bad. We had a new HT last year and she was in the school playground on the first morning introducing herself to everyone.

Thanks all - I think what concerns me is that it might rub off on the other staff. I haven't been too impressed with the communication of any of the teaching staff so far although it is a good school!
