... my dear Mum still grabs my hand if we cross a road together.Grin. Funnily enough am sure I mastered this at 7 but evidently Mum thinks otherwise.

spiderlight! Your post was ages ago but I do this too. Except with our dog it's 'Waaait' in a really patient voice.

I was crossing the road with some colleagues recently and nearly told one of them to waaait Blush

My sister and I ended up having a day out with mum and dad a few months ago ( had been going to visit rel in hosp who deterioarated suddenly and only husband and children allowed in). So ds and I in back of car being handed Murray mints at regular intervals, was like being seven again. In fact it made ds and I giggle like we were seven again, but it was really nice and moving in a nostalgic way on what was really a difficult day. Sometimes it's nice to recapture that time.

My dad's in his eighties and deaf, so I often grab him under his arm and walk him across the road, couple of months ago I dragged a completely random old man across the road by mistake..... luckily he had a sense of humour!

Aw sea I'm sorry my OP made you wail Sad. If it's any comfort I love and appreciate my Mum and know I am so fortunate to have her - she just makes me laugh with the "grabbing my hand" thing. Does it to my sister too lol Grin

If I'm in the passenger seat and my Mum breaks, she whacks her hand hard across my shoulders and chest. (a primeval response to when I was little- also 45 yrs ago and there was no such thing as carseats apparently!)

Sorry for those of you who've lost their mums. xx

ah- i still have to help dds 13 and 16 cross the road when we are out and about.

my lovely dad, who has gone to his reward, used to always clean the lights on my car before i drove home from his house,.

LadyBiscuit · 07/03/2011 09:33

My dad tries to hold my hand when I cross the road and always cleans my windscreen before I leave his house after a visit. I am 46 :o
