AIBU? Seems a lot of faff and it's all water right?

OP posts:
worraliberty · 05/03/2011 22:41

When I had my first child and I had 5 stitches and lots of grazing, my Midwife suggested if it hurt to pee..I should do it in the bath Confused

Actually fuck this I've just had a thought?!? I hope my Husband doesn't pee in the bath cos I normally jump into the water after him every night Shock

I'm off to ask the fucker and he better tell the truth! >>>>>>

NellieForbush · 05/03/2011 22:41

YANBU as long as you are in the bath alone. Wouldn't do it myself but it takes all sorts....!

StealthPolarBear · 05/03/2011 22:42

over the age of about 5, that is the one exception to the "don't pee in the bath" rule

PenguinArmy · 05/03/2011 22:42

I go to the toilet first, but when I add more hot water I need to go again, so do. Getting out the bath is a right faff.

StealthPolarBear · 05/03/2011 22:43

sorry, that was to worra

NellieForbush · 05/03/2011 22:45

Sorry should have said stealth and worra - it goes without saying that if you've got stitches in your fanjo or similar, its ok to wee in the bath. (although I liked to wait until I was getting out, maybe I'm a bit precious)

nenevomito · 05/03/2011 22:46

I wasn't going to reply to this thread until I saw someone called PenguinArmy and now I have to jump in as I love that NN.

While here, no, I don't pee in the bath. Its a bit rank.

lovenamechange100 · 05/03/2011 22:46

dirties dirties, I always go before I get in. Hope you not a member of my gym and user of swimming pool Grin

And err do you clean bath afterwards with cleaner and such like?

pigletmania · 05/03/2011 22:47

Eghghh you dirty meare Grin. Ewwww your choice to sit in your own wee.

lovenamechange100 · 05/03/2011 22:47

Peein in shower is different however....

Whatever17 · 05/03/2011 22:48

Always wee in my own bath, am in their for 2 hours reading.

Then I shower off, possibly.

SecretNutellaFix · 05/03/2011 22:49

Ewwww. That's just rank. Completely disgusting. You end up bathing is your own urine!

SpermyShenanigans · 05/03/2011 22:52

I had stitches after having DD but it isn't practical to fill the bath even shallowly every time you need a pee when you have a newborn to look after is it?

Remember being incensed when I was told that my stitches would heal nicely if I was a "good girl" and kept them nice and "clean and dry" by a doctor.

"DO YOU KNOW WHERE THEY ARE?", I raged.

"I AM GOING TO WEE ON THEM!"

"SO NO, NOT CLEAN AND NO I CAN'T KEEP THEM DRY!"

But I think I had a point.

thebellsofsaintclements · 05/03/2011 23:13

Sorry but Shock at yous who say you'd never wee in your bath, but are happy jump in after hubby - so the juice from his sweaty feet, armpits, possibly traces of poo etc - that's ok but a bit of your own wee isn't?!!! PS OP - I do, and quite enjoy it too (though i do shower off afterwards)

ReshapeWhileDamp · 05/03/2011 23:17

Meh. It's a drop in the ocean. So to speak. Grin

Though it's different if it's someone else's. I sometimes share a bath with DS1 while I bathe DS2, who is too tiny to go in on his own. DS1 (just 3) pees as soon as he gets in.

We are trying to get him to stop doing this, honestly.

FreudianSlippery · 05/03/2011 23:19

Euwwww.

I was told to do that because of stitches after birth but I just couldn't do it. I actually can't imagine being able to 'let go' like that in a bath or shower. FWIW I filled a jug with hot water and poured it over the area during/after weeing, that numbed the pain very well.

worraliberty · 05/03/2011 23:21

Nah my husband is positively anal about bathtime. He has to run a bath every single fecking night at 7.30pm or he thinks the world will come to an end.

Last Guy Fawkes night, he interrupted the fire works so he could run his bloody bath..even Xmas night if we have family round, he'll disappear to run it.

Seriously he'd better not be pissing in it or I'm going to insist on jumping in first Hmm

MrsKwazii · 05/03/2011 23:22

Are you three? Hop out and use the loo Confused

ReshapeWhileDamp · 06/03/2011 09:38

But you'd have to dry yourself off properly, MrsKwazii! Nothing worse than a slippery loo seat. Wink

Honestly, you'd think we were talking about a large quantity of raw sewage rather than a minute amount of protein, urea and water. Confused And all the MWs I've ever spoken to suggested that I pee in the bath the first few days to avoid stinging my episiotomy scar (both times Sad). So what?

As for the weirdos people who insist on showering before bathing - OCD much? Just how dirty do you suppose you are? Grin

BakeliteBelle · 06/03/2011 10:03

Harmless. Showering before bathing is much more weird.

Bringonthegoat · 07/03/2011 13:03

Am really surprised anyone would shower before they jump in bath - or even post wee! Such a waste of water Shock

GwendolineMaryLacey · 07/03/2011 13:10

What weird habits you all have; sharing bath water, showering before baths, weeing in the bath. Oddballs!

But yes, was also told to wee in the bath after stitches and it did help. Stopped as soon as it stopped stinging though!

tyler80 · 07/03/2011 13:22

Since wee is chemically the same as sweat it's not really any worse than getting in the bath after a very sweaty bloke.

Desperateforthinnerthighs · 07/03/2011 13:37

Cant see the harm in it...no diff to getting into someone elses dirty bath water I am sure.

Urine IS sterile once it leaves the human body

dementedma · 07/03/2011 13:37

it's hardly "bathing in your own urine" unless you pee gallons and gallons and then the bath would overflow.....
must be pretty diluted.
Anyway, pee or no pee, doesn't everyone clean the bath after themselves? Seems more gross to me if you don't do that.
