to think it is inappropriate for Party Pieces to sell goods to celebrate the Royal Wedding?

Party Pieces actually terms the collection of goods as British Party.

Maybe they need help to fund their daughter's wedding?!

Can you link what it is they're selling?

They are an established party accessory firm, and so I'd expect them to offer what they think will sell given forthcoming parties (Christmas, Easter, Hallowe'en etc).

It would be different if they had sprung up to cash in. Or if they were using personal links to promote a line.

I don't think they've done anything wrong. And I don't think it's fair to expect the firm to miss an obvious opportunity in its sector.

www.partypieces.co.uk - my IT skills do not go so far to do a direct link to the British Party section. Click on Best of British.

I am sure it is a new category.

I see what you mean - thanks and I suppose it will help the street parties!

Thanks: I've looked and I can't see anything wrong with it.

It's not given undue prominence (the link from the home page is on the third box to the right, between "vintage tea party" and "70s disco"). No hint of cashing in on connexions either, and items similar in that category to what they sell in their other categories (just in red, white and blue).

I've just read that 2000 applications have been made to councils to close roads for street parties to celebrate the RW.

YABU. They're a company selling party bits, why shouldn't they?!

parties are their business- so why not ? I remember ordering stuff for ds' party years ago,long before there was any Kate'n'William

Why? That's their job, they sell all sorts and are pretty good, have used them several times and probably will again.

Exactly, I agree, they are an established party wear firm, why shouldent they be selling party stuff for the Royal Wedding. Its what they do isent it not! They are still a business and have to run, so according to the op they should be missing that section out for the Royal Wedding, and not doing party stuff for it then.

Commercially there is no reason at all why they shouldn't, but morally I don't think it feels right. It was a great opportunity to show that they would not 'cash in' and they've missed it. But of course, they've got a wedding to contribute towards.

And as a customer of 15 years standing Grin I feel well qualified to comment!!!

Can't see the problem. Every other party suppliers will be doing it, so why should they lose out? They are a business. People can decide whether they buy or not. They are not having it rammed down their throat or being forced to buy.

TBH they'd not be being very businesslike if they missed out on such an opportunity!

This is a case of damned if you do, damned if you don't. If they weren't selling party items for the Royal Wedding, someone would be on here slagging them off because they felt ashamed of their business or were not proud of their daughter getting married.

they've also had GB stuff for a lot longer than Kate has been with Will as well, we've used them for stuff for our annual 4th of July BBQ which we have american and english stuff at.

Well they have to run a business, in these hard times and look after number one. At the end of the day, they have to also contribute to the wedding. Just because their daughter is getting married to Prince William, does not mean the Monerchy will give them riches and look after them financially. They still have bills to pay like the rest of us.

It will seem like cashing in if they did tacky partywear with the Royal couple on, but from what I have seen on their site, its just party wear in the colours of the Union Jack.

They should not have to stop their livelihood just because their daughter is marrying Wills
They have been quite restrained in their pieces too!

I would think it extremely strange if they didn't. This is exactly the kind of thing they do, and did well before there was even a hint of William in their lives. They would be selling this kind of stuff just the same if their daughter had never met William and was marrying someone else.

I gave no problem with them selling wedding party stuff, and if you do have a problem, then just don't buy from them. Easy.

No- Union Jacks are often used in shabby chic designs so a British design is totally ok. Do you think that the average person knows who the owners of the site are?
