DS2 was 11lb 3oz -We got the celebrity treatment on the ward too with all the med students, midwives, doctors coming to have a look!

DS1 was only 8lb 13oz so it was quite a shock! But labour was less than 3 hours start to finish so can't complain.

Figgyrolls · 04/03/2011 10:07

I feel massively inadequate - I daren't have another as mine just keep getting smaller - but rest in the knowledge that both mine put together don't weigh far off what yours was! Grin

(6lb 5oz and 5lb 10oz)

KnitterNotTwitter · 04/03/2011 10:07

DS was 10lb 6oz... currently pregnant with no. 2 and am assuming that it'll be bigger :)

BooyFuckingHoo · 04/03/2011 10:08

Fernie3 · 04/03/2011 11:46

I was 7 pounds 6 but was born at 35 weeks so god knows how's big i would have been born later ( was delivered early because if previous stillbirth) mine have all been fairly weedy the smallest 5 pounds 8 the biggest 7 pounds 13.

Congrats btw!!

Weegle · 04/03/2011 11:54

My first child, DS, was 12lb 12oz. He was 2 weeks overdue. GINORMOUS, but cute Smile

Then I had twins, born over a month prem weighing 5lb 11oz and 5lb 12oz... so together not weighing the same as their brother...

ln1981 · 04/03/2011 12:09

my wee bro was just under 13lbs at birth (my mum had him by CS).he was something of a celeb as the hospital had never had a baby that big for a long time!! the twins that were born on the same day (and who were in his class at school) didnt even weigh as much as him put together!

we have a picture of us together when he was about 6mths and i was 3-we were roughly the same size. Smile

ln1981 · 04/03/2011 12:10

had never hadnt

Spammead · 04/03/2011 12:41

Wow. I thought 8lb 1oz DD was big!

Ihatebeingfrugal · 04/03/2011 14:13

My mum was 14lb exactly at birth.

This was in 1938. Gran had home birth - no pain relief!

Mum told me this when I was pregnantShock (thanks Mum!)- because my consultant kept telling me I was having "big" twins
My twins were only 11 lb 12ounces put together!

Chrysanthemum5 · 04/03/2011 14:52

My FIL was 13lb 8oz DH was 9lb 8oz and DS was 10lb 5oz in comparison DD was a tiddler at 8lb 4oz!

I have a friend who weighed 12 lbs 2 oz when born (naturally). She was 2 weeks late.

She's now 5' 3" and a size 6 Shock.

Apparently her mum's obstetrican used her picture as a teaching case study for 25 years, and then delivered a 14lbs baby and lost interest in her Grin

QueenOfFlippingEverything · 04/03/2011 15:26

Wow well done thinkjessicarabbit!

My DS was 10lb and 3 weeks late and back-to-back which was quite bad enough...

BecauseImALondoner · 04/03/2011 15:49

My DS was 11 pounds 7 and induced at just over 38 weeks because of pre eclampsia. God only knows what he would have weighed if he'd gone full term.

FourFortyFour · 04/03/2011 15:53

My 3rd child seemed massive after my older two!

6lb 12oz
6lb 14oz
7lb 9oz.

Grin
DaisyDaresYOU · 04/03/2011 15:54

Snap stranded so was my dd 6lb 10 back to back.It was an awful experience.I'm just glad she wasn't any bigger as I had a 2nd degree tear with her.

ShowOfHands · 04/03/2011 15:55

Congratulations.

They do say though- as others have confirmed on here - that bigger babies are actually easier to give birth to because of gravity and what's difficult is babies with big head circumferences or malpositioned babies.

They say a lot though and to me it sounds bloody amazing. Grin

amiheartless · 04/03/2011 16:11
