to think that being a social worker is most unpopular job on the planet?

Everytime I turn around there is something negative about the job. We have so many vacancies on our teams now and I think public perception has alot to do with it?

Are there any jobs less well regarded these days? Or are we being paranoid??

YDNBU even this thread has moved towards if social workers deserve to be hated, rather than public perception.

In NI its crazy competitive to be a social worker! There is a shortage but that's because of funding not because of lack of people willing to do it. DH applied and he got rejected, which shocked me as he would be an amazing social worker. Its competitive as the degree is paid for and you get a full time wage whilst training.
