to not expect my neighbour to leave these in the front garden

A neighbour has had some full rubbish bags in her front garden for weeks and when they were put on the pavement for collection I spotted that they were clinical waste bags.

The two bags were there for ages - although they could have been taken and then replaced with others. Any idiot/drunk/kids walking down the street could have torn them open and scattered who knows what. Ditto any dogs.

I know she was probably told to put them on the pavement for collection but AIBU to think that she could have put them in her back garden until collection day? Even DH thought it was a bit "off".

You can only leave rubbish out within about 24 hours of collection time or you get fined - check with local council for the rules, but it's something like that.

YANBU. Have a word.

They carn't contain clinical waste otherwise the usual bin collction would not take them. If they are then she may have been let down by whoever was ment to collect them. But where i live clinical waste has to be stored away untill it is collected. Maybe because they are in clinical waste bages the bin men will not take them. If they did and they contained anything other than domestic waste they would be fined and disiplined.

That really is truly revolting. Not sure I'd have the nerve to say anything to her though. I'd probably just bitch in a really passive aggressive kind of way.

Clinical waste bags should be in a container, and it sounds like they weren't collected when expected. I think you're overreacting though - probably nothing more sinister in there than incontinence pads.

Birdsgottafly -
they were on the pavement on tuesday which is not our bin day so I'm assuming that they were due to be collected then by the "specialist" team (they were not there when I got back). I realise that they may have just been doing what they were told - but it was the fact that these bags appeared to have been in her front garden for some time before that and as they are small gardens (Edwardian terraced houses) they were right by the pavement.

I will keep an eye open and see if there are any more or if it was just a one off. If it happens again I will make some enquiries about what she should be doing and maybe have a word.
