Just seen a job advert - a company is looking for a "Slick" PA.

There's something just not right about that word.

I also don't want to work in any company that is "trendy".

Just getting old, aren't I?

lol at slick, can you phone and ask what they mean and come back and tell me? It is funny

HecateQueenOfWitches · 02/03/2011 13:15

Sounds slightly pervy. Wink

It isn't very professional language, is it?

what do they mean by 'slick'?

slimey? good liar? good talker? gift of the gab?

I'm not even sure what they could possibly want!

MrSpoc · 02/03/2011 13:17

Well since it is a P.A job i can guess what they mean by slick but i wont say it out loud.

What is wrong with working with a trendy company?

Lancelottie · 02/03/2011 13:17

Oily, surely?

doozle · 02/03/2011 13:17

This is a definition I've just found ...

"Superficially attractive or plausible but lacking depth or soundness"

Is that really what they want?

Slick Grin

That's how they used to advertise PA jobs in the late 80s.

Or how about Girl Friday?

nufsed · 02/03/2011 13:18

Please apply for the job OP, and go to the interview slathered in vaseline

I hate psychobabble and "on trend" wording in job ads. It actually puts me off applying.

Quenelle · 02/03/2011 13:22

I think pussycat bows and shoulder pads are back in actually Blush

Marlinspike · 02/03/2011 13:26

Slick - were't they a late 70's / early 80's band?

NinkyNonker · 02/03/2011 13:31

They just mean efficient surely?

BitOfFun · 02/03/2011 13:34

Ah, Jefferson Airplane...even they went to shit by the eighties though.

kreecherlivesupstairs · 02/03/2011 13:40

Band were surely Slik note the groovy lack of a C. The band were Scots and Midge Ure was in them.
OP, YANBU I would be concerned about what slick meant. It is a horrible word the more you look at it the worse it gets.

doozle · 02/03/2011 13:45

Don't get me started on ...

Go-getting
Self-starter
Outside the box malarky
