It's not on, is it? I feel like someone has pulled a giant Scampi Fries packet down over my face.

Oblomov I don't object to hot food in general - I had a nice Pret Moroccan chicken soup for my own lunch. But fish in a microwave? That's just inconsiderate.

Sorry, I think you're being a little unreasonable. I am coming at it though from the point of view that I think all food cooked in an office smells a bit off-putting, even whatever I cook/heat up for myself, but that's a weird mental peccadillo of mine that I need to work on. Anyway ? I don't like it if I can smell other people's soup, pasta sauce, sandwiches, anything, but I wouldn't discriminate between foods. Also it's a shared office, and if people can't/don't want to go out for lunch and there's no separate staff room or canteen, there's not much choice ...

Very anti social

I used to work for a company where no 'hot food' was allowed because the boss didn't like the smells of last nights curries or jacket potatoes etc!

Total banning is a bit OTT but perhaps they should shut the kitchen door and eat in isolation! Grin

It all depends on how much ventilation there is. Where I work there used to be a microwave in a cupboard kitchen area with no ventilation at all. Fire doors all around, so no fresh air getting into the corridor unless doors were propped open and windows open too. A colleague often heated up cabbage and someone else would often chip in with a fish dish. Smell lingered on for hours. Eventually some fool left a pitta in there for a few minutes, smoke alarms were triggered, entire site evacuated. Microwave disappeared, smell problem solved, but annoying for the more considerate re-heaters.

Better than curry ?

Probably, heating too long is most of the problem.

If it's just being reheated, should just seal completely, and heat to about 60-70 C.
No steam/pressure.
