to stop me going to get DS2 age 10 and a half from school as he wants to walk home alone today, not too far and both main roads have traffic light crossings and some of his friends walk this way, but he is my baby and I am so tempted to go meet him anyway, please talk me out of it

If you think he is mature enough to walk home then I'll happily sit on you with a cup of tea and a chocolate biscuit!, mmmmmm! Grin

mmsmum · 01/03/2011 15:02

I thought this was going to be kinky and didn't want to click on it! Grin

Don't go! Or if you do go, go late and only meet him a little way away from the house

When DD started walking home we did it in stages. First I met her at the school, then it was on the school road a little bit away, then it was at the traffic lights, then the other side of the lights, then it was the top of our road and then she was all the way home!

She's been doing it nearly two years now, and I do still walk up for her sometimes, but I have an excuse, it's not me its the dog lol

I think you're being fantastically brave! You should make yourself a pot of tea and get a packet of biscuits come home-time. I know that would stop me from moving off the sofa.Grin

MrsWembley · 01/03/2011 15:05

And I too thought rude at first. I clicked on here expecting to have to have a go at some bloke who thought he could mess with us!!!!

RunAwayWife · 01/03/2011 15:07

Where can I borrow a dog Grin he would not think I was looking for him if I was walking a dog....

Stuffs cream cracker and Philadelphia in to mouth

I'm sure it will all go really well.
DO let us all know

EleanorJosie · 01/03/2011 15:10

Bless. Don't go...he'll be fine.

DD1 keeps saying she wants to walk to school on her own with DD2 when they get to 8 and 5 respectively...there are no roads to cross though but I'll still see how I feel when they get to that age and how sensible they are.

When we went on holiday to a campsite and I was 8 I was desperate to go on my own to buy something from the local shop which was probably 200 yards down the road. My mum eventually agreed...a few years later she told me she'd watched me nearly all of the way there and back :)

winnybella · 01/03/2011 15:10

Leave him alone Grin
10 is old enough and he'll be so proud of himself when he comes home!Don't take it away from him.

TryingVeryHard · 01/03/2011 15:12

Sit on you OP? Grin
Are you comfy?
Sorry don't mean to make fun, you're being very brave, I know I would be just the same (or worse)

RunAwayWife · 01/03/2011 15:14

He goes to high school in September so he needs to start learning, although for the most part he will go with DS1 who will be year 11 then.

Watching the clock, he should be here by 3.30 latest
