Car insurance

Who designs their stupid systems. Ex is still on my policy and has had a bang (his fault) in his car.

Phoned up to see how much it is going to affect my premium as due this month. Will be £40 extra with his accident to what my renewal is.

If I take him off the policy I still have to pay an extra £25. Where is the sense in that? Plus I have to pay the extra premium for my renewal NOW not when the policy renews Hmm

Off to browse for new insurance now.

Look for new insurance and if you can take him off, do it.

I presume he's not claiming on you're insurance Hmm so you would not have to declare his accident or anything on a new policy.

imho never take insurance out with the same insurer as they automatically crank up the premiums (went with ours again this year but only as a new customer policy with a cashback provider).

I hear you. I called up for a home insurance quote.

The quote from a comparison site was a princely £223 which i thought was fair considering I made a claim last year.

Went through it on the phone and one question was "Do you have a tree taller than 5m within 5m of your home?"

Well as it happens I do have a tree. It's not a particularly big tree and I've no idea how tall it is without measuring it so I erred on the side of caution and said yes.

Quote now lept to £333! £110 to cover the risk of a tree falling on my house!?!?! Are you kidding me!??! Theft, fire, accidental damage etc can all be done for £223 but £110 for a fricking tree!?!?!!?

So I went out to measure it and lo & behold it was just under 5m. Quote dropped again! For that sort of money, I'd have taken a hacksaw to the sodding tree!

Niceguy2, the risk isn't that the tree will fall on your house. It's that the roots of the tree will undermine your house's foundations. That can be very costly.
