From partner in the firm at home time "off home now, to play part time mummy", on my first week back full time, it really annoyed me as we can't all afford to be housewives, and working doesn't make me a part time mum!

Need a come back for the dinosaur as he's the type to say it over and over...

My first thought was "Fuck off, Wanker". But I guess that's not going to cut it Grin.

Vallhala · 01/03/2011 13:14

"No Boss, I'm off to et into a long bath, a short skirt and killer heels and hit the town while my husband stays home and plays part time daddy, you wanker."

:o

BitOfFun · 01/03/2011 13:14

Weak smile. Picture his horrible death.

Spammead · 01/03/2011 13:14

Smile and tell him that you are a mummy all the time?

Not really scathing, but true!

Joby1970 · 01/03/2011 13:14

ask him what his wife did when she had kids... if he says stayed at home then tell him you don't get paid enough to do that & this is the best solution.

Aworryingtrend · 01/03/2011 13:14

Its not clear from your OP, did he say it to you?

If so YANBU.

ChaoticAngelofAnarchy · 01/03/2011 13:15

Well the first thing that came to mind was "Better than being a full time wanker." Grin However, you might want to wait for something that will keep your job safe.

HecateQueenOfWitches · 01/03/2011 13:15

"What do you mean by that?" / "What are you suggesting?" / "Could you explain that remark please?"

Or "Are you suggesting that because I am a woman I should not work when I have children?"

Or "Are you off to play part time daddy?" or "When your children were growing up, were you playing part time daddy?"

Why have a funny or whatever come back when a direct challenge to his sexist ideas would be more appropriate?

VinegarTits · 01/03/2011 13:16

wire his stapler up to the mains

bupcakesandcunting · 01/03/2011 13:18

What ChaoticAngel and VinegarTits said.

Mamaz0n · 01/03/2011 13:18

first thing i would say is "if you cold post me my P45 i'd be grateful"

cos i would have smacked him upside his head

Iklboo · 01/03/2011 13:19

'How much did it cost you to go to cock school?'

Iklboo · 01/03/2011 13:19

That's to HIM of course, not you!

mmsmum · 01/03/2011 13:22

What did you do?

If it were me I really think he would have got a slap if he were close enough, but at the very least he would have got a piece of my mind and then some! I am livid just reading your OP!

eandz · 01/03/2011 13:22

...my husband thinks he's a full time daddy and a part time mommy because when he gets home i take my off time and I don't get back till DS is in bed and dinner is on the table...

i don't care what he calls it, i'm not giving up my me time.

eandz · 01/03/2011 13:22

(forgot to mention, he has to work from home too in the evenings)

ullainga · 01/03/2011 13:25

Male partner, I assume? Does he have kids? Then I would of course ask if he is now going home to play a part-time daddy. If no kids, how's the life playing a part-time husband?

Becaroooo · 01/03/2011 13:32

Smile sweetly and plot his untimely demise?????.... Smile

Bubandbump · 01/03/2011 13:35

Don't say anything career threatening - there always will be people like this in the work place in positions of authority who think they are funny..

I would smile and always turn it around to how much you get paid (always a touchy subject for partners..) something along the lines of 'well I am happy to only work 4 days a week to be at home more if you're happy to pay me the same salary'

euphrosyne · 01/03/2011 13:40

What Hecate said.
Just say "I beg your pardon?" smiling calmly.
No need to show him he upset you.

YANBU

SenoritaViva · 01/03/2011 13:40

I am a Mummy full time. I only work for you part time. Thank god it is that way around.

CornflowerB · 01/03/2011 13:43

God, that is so barbed on so many levels. I got so much nastiness when I worked in an office (part-time - don't know whether this is better or worse for nasty comments) that I found the best strategy was to completely ignore it. People like that really hate to be ignored, so although you might not feel like you are winning, actually you are.

StrandTest · 01/03/2011 13:47

Laugh as though you genuinely thought it was a joke.

Mumi · 01/03/2011 14:03

Exactly ullainga!

ChaoticAngel Grin

EleanorJosie · 01/03/2011 14:04

What a twat.
