talking about your children?

Dont get me wrong, as a single parent of 2 very challenging boys under 5 I am often very stressed out and can often dislike my children.

However in 2 different media articles recently there are women talking about hating their children. (Daily Mail and Take a Break, I know, I know) and how it is ok for women to admit this.

An acquaintance on FB also put the other day "really hate my son right now"

AIBU to think that hate is a really horrible thing to say about your child? I have literally been pushed to the edge by my children (breakdown moment in public), but hate is such a strong word surely?

thats awful!!!!!!!!! my LO's push me to the edge, its what kids do!!! its their job ha ha but seriously i would never ever say i hate them!! closest i get is, "they've done my head in today"

Hate is a strong word but your friend may be at the end of her tether. I bet she regrets her choice of words later.

I think the thing thats bothered me most is the media justifying the word hate when talking about children.

Friend could have been at end of tether, but hate? I've been at the end of my tether - in fact I've fallen off it at times.

I hate a lot of things about being a parent sometimes, and I can hate their behaviour and now they make me feel.

I wouldn't ever say that I hated them though, it's a terribly strong word and not one that you can go back from IYSWIM. If you hate someone then you hate them, you don't want to be near them, you loathe them, and it's not a passing feeling.

So YANBU IMO.
