He's always read them...I think they're a pile of shit. Sorry...I know I ABU...but they're such a MASSIVE waste of time!

He's sitting there...reading some crap about training your brain to behave in a certain way...to make himself be more go-getting....when he could get up and actually DO something!

I get MAD at this...he reads loads of them and when I first met him he had these special tapes he would listen to at night i bed while he slept...which put positive messages in his head.

Just bloody live ffs! Get on with it!

I just said "Why don't you make that phone call that you've been meaning to do for weeks instead of reading about how to get the energy to do it...get up and DO it."

And he lost his plot.

I think the books are just a distraction. Fooling people into thinking they're "improving" themmselves when they should just get of their arses and live.

He has a day off and wastes it.

My DP loves buying these kinds of books. I agree there can be an issue with being addicted to the idea of helping yourself but never getting off your arse. But... some of them are ok. The 4 Hour Work Week really inspired him to look at his working methods & he's definitely put some of it into practice.

I've read a few, some are interesting. But he'd be the first to admit that quite a few are gathering dust, with only the first chapter read & forgotten. Grin

He doesn't buy gubbins like the Secret though, or we'd be having serious words. I mean FFS, in a nutshell you're meant to visualise things like a large cheque arriving in the post. Wow! Why didn't I think of that sooner?
