I have just seen on facebook family pictures of an memoreial for my cusion who when missing last year. I am not close to my family but we stay intouch on facebook, is it wrong of me to feel totally devaststed I knew nothing about the service until 5 minutes ago, the service was the 26 jan

Maybe it was a case of everyone thinking someone else would have told you but because everyone thought that no-one actually did?

I'd still be upset but think I'd just need to have a cry to myself and what else can you do? His parents must be devastated and won't be thinking straight at all but I might want to send a card or a note saying I'd only just heard about it and I hoped that it went well. But only because I'd want them to know that's why I wasn't there, but logically I know they won't have noticed. That is a lot of buts!

you're not wrong to feel that way, but i doubt they meant to make you feel like it iyswim. maybe they thought you wouldn't be interested as you're not particularly close, or the distance, or it was for v close family/friends only...? how did you find out just now?
