I don't know the person in real life, but I find her posts quite fascinating and everytime I logon to mnet I search for her recent threads.
DP says I'm stalking her but I don't agree

Thats why I frequently use different names.

FunnysInTheGarden · 27/02/2011 22:30

thenever you are officially a MN stalker!

QuintessentialShadows · 27/02/2011 22:30

Sounds a bit stalkerish.

AnnoyingOrange · 27/02/2011 22:30

When mumsnet was smaller, it was quite easy to remember a lot about the posters who posted frequently.

Now the site is bigger and there are a lot more posters it's impossible to keep track of people unless you do use the search facility.

GetOrfMoiLand · 27/02/2011 22:31

Zambouca - yes can do linky links, am not a COMPLETE MN moron Wink

So what do you do then? Just tyoe someone's name in the search facility and that's it (if that is how you do it I am gpoing to look more stupid than normal)

Zamboucca · 27/02/2011 22:33

Yes!!!

QuintessentialShadows · 27/02/2011 22:34

you know, you dont have to be an astronautical plane-gineer to work it out, getorf. Wink

GetOrfMoiLand · 27/02/2011 22:35

Well.

Zambouca - I have just tried it with your name, it couldn't find anything.

See. I told you it was hard.

Not sure reading in itself is stalkerish.

I have had other posters in the past who mysteriously post 5 posts down from me on every bloody thread and always disagree with me, seemingly just for the sake of a row. Since I am a) fairly agreeable and b) usually right about everything I can only conclude that they are in fact a bit stalkerish Grin But that is a quite different situation.

DrRichandNimble · 27/02/2011 22:39

thing is, i don't do the advance search/stalker thing and yet there are probably a few MNers that i could answer those questions about too (how many dc, their ages, job, where they live etc etc)

essenceofSES · 27/02/2011 22:40

I think what you describe in your OP is stalkerish but in an allowable way IYKWIM!

However your later post where you talk about knowing her better than her own friends - I find that wierd! I have "MN friends" and share more with them on some topics than I do with my RL friends but it is still my RL friends that know me best.

GetOrfMoiLand · 27/02/2011 22:41

Fucking Nora! I didn't even know that advanced search wotsit existed!

I have looked for old threads on the normal search and it was shite. But that advanced search works really well.

4 years I have been here. What a dunce I am Grin

PerArduaAdNauseum · 27/02/2011 22:43

Yep, can't disagree with you Getorf Grin

BuzzLiteBeer · 27/02/2011 22:43

remembering stuff about a poster because they are interesting/like you/whatever is one thing, actively searching for their every post each time you log off and then starting other posts to talk about doing so.....totally stalkerish different.

QuintessentialShadows · 27/02/2011 22:43

I really do hope you are not making a reference to Ibsen, my dear.

BuzzLiteBeer · 27/02/2011 22:43

*on, not off.

PerArduaAdNauseum · 27/02/2011 22:44

I've searched for particular posters when it's all a bit dull to see where the cool funnier threads are - that's not stalking, right?

Zamboucca · 27/02/2011 22:44

Always nice to empower a sister, GetOrf. Grin

I only usually look at a couple of topics on mnet and I find the same names post quite a lot. So I think its easy to pick up quite a lot of info on posters in passing.
I'm not saying that I go on mnet just to follow this poster but I follow current affairs posts quite consistently and over the months I've learnt quite a lot about this person whilst reading her posts.

I Suspect its the same for a lot of mnetters.
