I admit that I am a new member to this site but having looked around a number of threads (especially AIBU ones) the one over-riding thought that comes to mind is get a grip on reality!

I have read about someone who live in a rural village complaining about a neighbour who has a cockerall.

Someone risking a supermarket workers job over a silly comment that would not have been understood by her DD (and for some reason seems to think her DD will never hear this type of talk in her life)

People complaining about schools saying their DC are nto ready for full time (mainly to reduce their childcare costs but blaming the school for looking after the childs needs)

and the list goes on!

Folks; live in the real world for a change.......

Oh no, don't stop her, I love it Grin never had a bitchfest thread started about me before.

g'wan, you know you all want to. Let me have it.

Am bent over and ready for my spanking Grin

FourFortyFour · 27/02/2011 19:07

OP - you are coming across as very rude.

MN can be the best and worst place some days but when they chips are down Mumsnetters always come up trumps.

mrsscoob · 27/02/2011 19:08

Well thats what the topic is about, if you think they are being unreasonable then tell them on the thread! There is no need to start a pointless thread on the subject YABU!

HecateQueenOfWitches · 27/02/2011 19:08

oh. it's only half about me. never mind, we'll just pretend.

shakey1500 · 27/02/2011 19:09

Actually putting my serious penneth in, I am also new and have had my eyes opened- in a really positive way. I have LOVED reading political threads for example. It has made me question sides of what was, my bog standard argument/stance, if you like. I am in awe of the spectrum of people that use this section and the wealth of information/advice available.

diabolo · 27/02/2011 19:10

Please don't shoot me! I have a question.

I've named changed quite a few times over the years as I always seem to piss people off with my posts.

I find that I sometimes disagree with other posters opinions, and that these posters are "regular and much liked " as BooyFuckingHoo mentions. So I get slated pick up my ball and go home and that's that!

How do I contribute to a conversation that I might disagree with and not end up an outcast? Or should I not bother?

LibraPoppyGirl · 27/02/2011 19:10

YABU we like a moan every now and again. It helps us to let off a little steam among friends and saves our dear families from our moaning Wink

We all live in the 'real world' but we like this one too [poke out tongue emoticon]

HecateQueenOfWitches · 27/02/2011 19:12

No. Of course you should contribute!

You'd have to be a total twat to spit out your dummy because someone disagrees with you!

Yes, exchange opinions and yes - that means you are going to be arguing out opposing views.

If you've very lucky, it'll get carried over into a Whole New Thread About You [proud] Grin

But, honestly, diablo, post what you like. Your view is as valid as any other.

HecateQueenOfWitches · 27/02/2011 19:13

oh, I mean if someone spat out their dummy because you disagreed with them. Not you spitting out your dummy.

Sometimes it's hard to be clear Grin

BooyFuckingHoo · 27/02/2011 19:14

diabolo jsut keep posting in your usual name, post what you think.

(do i 'know' you BTW diabolo)

diabolo · 27/02/2011 19:16

Thanks for that Hectate. I will however, mostly observe.

You must be very proud to have a Whole New Thread About You

ArfurBrain · 27/02/2011 19:18

there's so much name changing , it would be impossible to keep tabs on who is regular and well liked anyway.
And you can be irregular and well-liked.
And of course you can be regular and be a right knobber.....

robust debate is a good and healthy thing.
Much better than arse-licking.

shakey1500 · 27/02/2011 19:20

I'm more of an "observer" as well, unless it's a subject I can confidently comment on and back up etc. I'll throw in the odd comment here and there but am, in the main, quite happy to be educated.

OP- seriously though, why not just find another forum that is less scrabbles for a word trivial for your taste? Surely more productive than making a thread "mocking" the very people who are happy to use it?

diabolo · 27/02/2011 19:20

I think I might be irregular and a right knobber.

HecateQueenOfWitches · 27/02/2011 19:21

I am, diablo, I am. Grin I may print it off and frame it Grin

bettybosseye · 27/02/2011 19:24

diabolo I'm sure you are anything but an irreguler knobber.Smile

bettybosseye · 27/02/2011 19:25

I change my name all the time, for no other reason than i get bored using the same one.

nickytwotimes · 27/02/2011 19:25

nice post about info, etc, shakey Smile
i agree - i have learned a lot in my 4 yrs on mn

not much from aibu though Wink

op - what a nasty thread to start.

MissyKLo · 27/02/2011 19:28

I like hectatequeen and think silly newbie needs to take some time before she starts spouting nonsense Grin

Goooooo go hectate!

FourFortyFour · 27/02/2011 19:30

I like Hecate too Grin.

diabolo · 27/02/2011 19:30

Loads of MNers seem to be quite militant Labour supporters and I am quite the opposite. I think that's why I piss people off.

I make a fatal mistake when I start posting on political questions - so I'm avoiding those.

I'm on another thread about Engligh food on holiday abroad.

Safe surely?

diabolo · 27/02/2011 19:31

English! English English English

BooyFuckingHoo · 27/02/2011 19:32

i avoid the politics section too diabolo as i am not a labour supporter. i think it might well be a case of picking your battles on here.

HecateQueenOfWitches · 27/02/2011 19:33

No. you have to live on here be a Regular like moi before you can go round spouting rubbish Grin

Do you know, I have pissed away practically my whole day on here today. In between cooking, sorting out the kids' fight and researching THREE bloody halfterm homework projects for my eldest.

I tell you, the time I waste on here is criminal. I don't think 'Regular' is a thing to be proud of. Blush
