I shouted Very Bad Things, that I had Had Enough and stomped out of the house to buy a bottle of wine, leaving them fighting and crying.

I am shit. I could write a book. 'How not to parent' or 'How to completely fuck up your children'

AYC - no you are NOT! It's the stepford wives types you have to worry about. You wouldn't be human if you diddnt lose it with two teenagers at each others neck.

drink your wine and have a chat wih them tomorrow about why you blew your top and said what they said. Methinks they will know they were pushing you to far.

I don;t know what is wrong with me these holidays. I usually enjoy them. But this one I have found really difficult.
I just told DS(16) he was ignorant for slamming his bedroom door on DD(9). I put a really bad word in before the word ignorant.
However, I now realise that if I were able to go to my bedroom, and DD(9) came to the door, I too would slam it.

stripeywoollenhat · 24/02/2011 19:42

pretty sure you are fine at it, you just have a fourteen year old in your house. poor everyone

drink up.

Went downstairs after posting and noticed a "mud" stain on my trousers - nope not mud, actually shit from scraping out a potty for 3 yo. The day began with shit too - which 5yo inexplicably got on her foot. HTF do you get shit on your foot?? Confused.

So a shitty, shite, shittfest of a day here too.

Had 3 big glasses of wine though Wine

Hope tomorrow is better Cervix

The little bastards , godawful brats , wee darlings are hardwired to find your very last nerve and do highwire acrobatics on it. So no, YANBU. I would find it a bit odd if you had never lost your cool with them. In fact if it were me I'd follow with a pretty drastic punishment like cancelling Christmas for the next decade , locking them in the coalshed , removing LOADS of priviledges just to reinforce the point that driving Mummy crazy is a seriously bad idea.

So far I see no mention of putting them on bread and water forevermore , confiscating the playstation so I think you're being far too reasonable personally! Grin

AtYourCervix · 24/02/2011 22:15

i have drunk an entire bottle of red Blush i felt the need.

YAssssoooooNBU.

My normally mild mannered, passive and agreeable DS (6) has become a git hard work this holiday.

Spent 20 minutes sat watching myself with friend and her DD's in the pool yesterday, after doing the exact opposite of what I asked so I made him get out.

Even more annoying when her normally very rude fairly vocal DD's behaved themselves impecably. Grin

paulapantsdown · 24/02/2011 22:28

my mum used to to threaten on a regular basis to go to the bus station and get the 1st bus out and not come back for 3 days

i find myself saying EXACTLY the same thing on a very regular basis (except I would leave on a plane!)

today i took my little sods to london, lunch out, trip to museum, boat down river, present from gift shop etc etc

they then moaned about only getting ONE biscuit with mile before bed instead of TWO and were sent to bed in disgrace - they think I am off to Spain in the morning

Honeydragon · 24/02/2011 22:33

megonthemoon your most made me actually snort a little of my drink out my nose....funniest post I've read this week Grin

Really pleased to find this post.

I have had a similar lose it moment today only mine are only 3 and 5. Which makes me pretty unreasonable really all in all.

We had had a lovely day, playing games at home in the am and going out to see a show this afternoon followed by icecream and new books. Then I wanted to go to asda and quite frankly they were little shits all the way round kicking each other and me, poking the shopping, pulling things off the shelves, strangling each other / poking each other in the eyes etc. The icing on the cake that really lit my touch paper was laughing at me while I shouted at them told them off.

A lovely lady behind me in the checkout temporarily restored my sense of humour by smirking and saying 'at least its not only my boys' but the relief was temporary and I might have threatened to leave them in he car park Blush

When we got home I just told them that I didn't want to see them anymore and to leave me alone.

I calmed down while I put the shopping away and then went and gave them big hugs and explained why I was cross, they said sorry and no harm done.

Certainly don't have a leg to stand on to say YABU if I have been as ranty with my small ones who probably were just being slightly worse than normal small boys Blush
