To like (and need) my pants crispy clean?

Thandeka · 23/02/2011 19:58

DH thinks I am as I really really HATE my freshly washed pants to go in the tumble drier. They just don't feel clean to me. I need a nice crisp pair of pants as I know then they are clean. The feel of tumble dried clean pants just feels like dirty worn pants to me (apart from smelling of "summerfreshlinenmountaindewmeadow" rather than "monday minge" or "friday fanjo" obviously ;) ).

Am I alone in this madness? DH thinks I am.

Sigh.

Well I don't wear any, I don't even own knickers.

bibbitybobbityhat · 23/02/2011 20:12

Yanbu.

I completely and utterly understand where you are coming from and my long posting history in support of slightly crispy laundry bears witness to this. I particularly like pants that have been dried on the radiator Smile.

I had to do some tumble drying this week (slight emergency) - I HATED my pants when I put them on. HATED them.

GypsyMoth · 23/02/2011 20:14

Oh my god...... I had never given this head space before!!! Til now!!

PearlBarley · 23/02/2011 20:15

Crisp and clean, the way pants should be. YANBU.

Thandeka · 23/02/2011 20:17

aha I need a few more posts to this thread then shall show to DH to prove it isnt just me!

Sorry but "crisp" makes me think "rigid" - as in stiff with dirt/secretions LOL.

I know you don't mean that - you mean crisp in a "fresh" way but where pants are concerned (and not "crisp white shirt") it sounds a bit weird. But that's just me.

southeastastra · 23/02/2011 20:19

your pants are your business! fancy posting this all over the www Shock

Thandeka · 23/02/2011 20:33

haha but I didn't tell you I only ever tolerate the big black granny pants from BHS/M&S.

Oh wait I just did.

I never really thought about this, and no happy for them to go in dryer! But each to their own.

(I named changed from mumnwlondon)... how is your DD doing?

marriednotdead · 23/02/2011 20:52

I don't have a tumble drier and even if I did, my knickers would be the last things I'd put in it (they're too expensive to ruin).

I like my sheets crispy too.

YANBU

Thandeka · 23/02/2011 20:54

MumNWLondon- sobs- I thought we could be friends- but you don't understand me and my important pants issues- sob sob. Wink

DD is fine- one and almost walking and babbling away (not worried in slightest about her anymore- how are your LO's?)

foreverondiet · 23/02/2011 21:23

Thandeka - we could still be friends but have to differ on pant issues!

Name changed as am still loosing baby weight and have been on a diet forever...

Very pleased to hear that your DD is doing so well, have thought about you from time to time. Ds2 now 10 months. All fine.

RevoltingPeasant · 23/02/2011 21:36

bibbity

Mmmm, radiator pants... Grin

TondelayoSchwarzkopf · 23/02/2011 21:41

YANBU - I always think tumble-drying imparts a certain greasiness - especially in towels.

bibbitybobbityhat · 23/02/2011 21:48

A certain greasiness?

A definite limpness. And I always associate limpness in clothing with clothes having been previously worn - the very last thing you want with scants.

AintMissBeehiving · 23/02/2011 21:49

You're all LOONS! Who wants scritchy scratchy radiator pants when can have soft and sweet smelling tumble dried pants Shock

CointreauVersial · 23/02/2011 21:51

I have this arguement with DH on the subject of towels.

I love them nice and crispy after drying on the line - gives you a good exfoliation when you dry off.

DH is a big girl's blouse, and likes his fluffy wuffy towels tumble-dried.

(btw, doesn't the tumble-dryer cause your undercrackers to lose a little....er.....elasticity?)

WillieWaggledagger · 23/02/2011 21:52

yes and I like my clean towels like cardboard

WillieWaggledagger · 23/02/2011 21:52

ah x-post

Mists · 23/02/2011 21:53

"Crispy" to me is the opposite of clean surely? As in, "crispy sex towel" (copyright BoF)

Then again I don't see the point of a have a tumble drier so the wilted lettuce-like knickers will never be a problem for me...

bibbitybobbityhat · 23/02/2011 21:53

Oh yes, exfoliating towels. Line-dried on a hot day. So that you can actually hear them crackle when you fold them.

Mists · 23/02/2011 21:55

Oh but towels NOT used for naughtiness should always be somewhat crispy, I agree. Very good for exfoliation, yy.

CointreauVersial · 23/02/2011 21:57

Crispy sex towel - arf! I'd forgotten that.

GreenEyesandHam · 23/02/2011 21:57

Yessssssssss!!!! I LOVE a cardboard towel as well!

I put the fluffy soft ones out 'for show', and then carry my big ole stiff ones to the bathroom, like a sheet of MDF

Pants I'm not too fussed about, but I agree everything smells fresher when it's not been tumble dried

WillieWaggledagger · 23/02/2011 21:57

you see I would call them 'crisp' (like a salad crisper, or starched collars) rather than 'crispY' (with dried-on yuck)
