Well, seems as though theres a load of negative threads and hoping this will be a nice one.

Friends DD (7yo) phoned tonight to say she's really missing me now. Saw her last Saturday!! We often spend a few days with them during the holidays but friends DH got some holiday and his DD1 is down.

She wouldn't tell me why she misses me though Hmm Grin

The reason this is sssssoooo lovely and surprising is I'm much stricter than my friend and often feel they dislike my 'rules' of tidying up after oneself and such stuff.

SO: What nice things have friends DC's said to you to make you Smile

Well I havnt got nice things friends things DC's have said but me and my DS still ask for wurgers instead of burgers at Mcdonalds for a laff, he understands this is something he used to say incorrectly and we both have out little giggle about it when going through drive through.

mumbar · 22/02/2011 21:51

ROFL Grin

Anything really, positive and funny anecdotes from DC's.

It'll make half term for those of us on it easier. Smile

I advised the dcs not to hold their breath in the car tonight (they were competing to see who could do it the longest) warning them that it kills off brain cells.

DS (6) asked if they would fall out of his ears. Grin

rocketleaf · 22/02/2011 21:57

Just been to my cousins for the afternoon and her 4 yr old DS was rolling himself up in a quilt and pretending to be a snail.

"say goodnight to mr snail'

"say hello to mr snail"

this went on for a while. Just as I was leaving cuz had put the tv on for him to watch but with no sound on, he kept asking for it be put on but she was busy seeing me to the door and just as i was about to leave he said "mr snail IS NOT HAPPY" AIBU to think this is cute and funny even tho he was being a little bit bratty?

mumbar · 22/02/2011 22:05

No that is funny rocket!!

carrots - I was teaching my DS to hold his breath in the car the other day Blush In my defence it was on his way to swimming lessons - so a relevant skill. I would have been tempted to reply "no, your nose" Blush

DD1's friend (6) came for tea a while ago. We had just moved house and there were still boxes everywhere and generally the place was a mess.

She came in and announced "I love this house...'cos you live in it" Smile

Awhiteelephantintheroom · 22/02/2011 22:47

A few years ago when DD1 was about 8, I nipped to Tesco when she had a friend round. I asked both girls if they wanted some sweets, and they both chose something. Her friend then said to me "You're a really good mummy"

Awwwwww

Teenybitsad · 22/02/2011 22:47

DDs friend (6) said "I love coming here to play because you think we're sooo funny and I like it when you laugh at us!"

Well they are! Grin

NotANaturalGeordie · 22/02/2011 22:52

In our house there are two kinds of bread, shop bought (and if I can be bothered to switch the damn machine on) home made. Which is always referred to as 'malicious' bread - DD1 still cannot say delicious properly.

(passes malicious toast to all in room)

BaroqueAroundTheClock · 22/02/2011 22:55

BF's DD a while back said to her mum that I looked "sexy" (she has older sisters - teenage/adult ones so has heard the term from them a lot).......and then when her mum (my BF) bought a very similar style top she told her mum that she looked good in it because it was one like Baroque has Grin

rocketleaf · 22/02/2011 23:02

Oh I'd forgotten about this but Baroques poste reminded me. My friend DD told her mum that Gemma Atherton looked like me. I wish it were more true! (she's always been my favourite of all my friends children Wink)

BaroqueAroundTheClock · 22/02/2011 23:06

oh oh oh - this isn't other people's DC. It's my own- but it was SOOOOOO sweet I just have to share it (yes he's my PFB too......although he's 10 now and has 2 younger brothers I hasten to add Wink

Terrible TERRIBLE day yesterday with the DS's. We were only just talking in the final minutes before bed. DS1 suddenly looked at the calendar and said "oh I wish I could organise a surprise party for you"

Confused - what do you mean -

"you know" he said "next month" (ahh penny drops - my birthday).

I pointed out that it wouldn't really be a surprise if I knew about it and helped organise it)..........to which he suggested he'd get his dad to take them out to buy parties poppers and banners and he'd invite my friends over - (that former just won't happen - I'm not even sure at this stage whether their father will even see^ them before my birthday let alone take them shopping for stuff for my birthday)

Bless him was sooo sweet though

mumbar · 23/02/2011 10:30

Ah Baroque that is ssssoooo lovely. Shows he appeciates you. Grin

Its lovely isn't it, DC's can drive you mad, especially someonen elses Wink. However all can be forgiven in one sentence. Grin

My sister told me that, on Christmas Day, my niece lifted the gift from us and said 'Oh good, Auntie Poledra's present - she does really cool presents.'

Was quite touched though my sister should take some of the credit as we always have a long discussion about the children's presents, to make sure they get something they actually want.

manicbmc · 23/02/2011 10:45

Dd's friends think I am fun and add me on facebook. We don't particularly chat but it's nice to be asked.

Actually, maybe 'fun' isn't quite the right word. Possibly a little bit mad. Grin

kreecherlivesupstairs · 23/02/2011 10:54

DDs friend told her she likes me because I don't rant about the state of the house. Not sure if that's a good thing or a slatternly thing.

abeautifulbutterfly · 23/02/2011 10:57

Was walking my DD to school on her first day there last September and in front of us was a boy who lives up the road, in his last year at the school, so I think must be about 12 or 13. He said hello to me and I to him, and the boy walking with him asked him who I was. He said: "Oh, just a cool lady who lives up the road from me." Smile I obviously have street cred.

manicbmc · 23/02/2011 11:00

I think that might be why dd's friends like me too, Kreecher. Because of my slovenly tendancies. Grin

Megatron · 23/02/2011 11:05

My DS's friend said I was the prettiest mummy at school. I'm not in any way, shape or form pretty, I'm one of the oldest and always look like I've been caught in a hurricane. I love that kid though.

northangerabbey · 23/02/2011 11:09

DS's best mate calls me Mrs Gandhi, not because I'm small and bespectacled and dress mainly in a loincloth but because I'm "really kind and laid back".

I thought that was really sweet.

GoldenGreen · 23/02/2011 11:12

I overheard ds (4) singing to DP the other night "you are my , you make me happy when skies are grey" etc. Heart melted!

rocketleaf · 23/02/2011 11:37

great idea for a thread this. i am off out with a bevy of friends and their kids this avo so I imagine I will back with some funny ones if no lovely ones (although the Gemma Atherton girl is going so aye I'll get some compliments :o)

That's quite the way with words she has there.
