To accepts DD (7) offer to pay the extra £10

For a half term treat I had decided to take DD (7), to the pictures to see Tangled.

The price for 2D for 2 of us is approx £10, the price for 3D is £21.00 (different cinemas).

Now normally not a problem, but money is really tight for us these days, and the extra £10 could make a difference between direct debit bouncing or not...

DD really wants to see it in 3D as she has never seen 3D before, been taken twice before thinking we were seeing 3D when both times it turned out to be 2D... (we could afford it those months).

She offered to pay the extra money from her Christmas money.

It upsets me that we are not in a position to just pay for without worrying, but presently we're not...

Would it be unreasonable to take her up on the offer and let her pay the extra £10.

Your DD sounds lovely.

Just to add though I saw tangled in 3D and it adds nothing to the film at all. If you can possibly talk her into another film for a 3D experience I would.

that's useful info Nancy....

She found it hard to pick between Tangled and Gnomeo and Juliet, wonder if that is better in 3D...

It's a great movie, hope you enjoy it. Have seen it in both 2D and 3D ( birthday parties) and have to say I the DDs really enjoyed the 3 D effects. Your DD sounds lovely. Hope you have a special day.

Haven't see Gnomeo and Juliet so couldn't compare.

Elliephant really? I though there was very little that seemed to actually be 3D - a small part with a butterfly is the only bit I can actually reacall. We saw it in 3D because that was the only option but if I had paid extra to see it in 3D for the experience I would have been sorely disappointed.

A quick update.

Took DD today to see Tangled 3d. Got there a little before advertised start time (last one of the day) to be told, that is wasn't showing any more today, last show was at 2.30.

I said oh no, it was showing on your website I checked earlier!

DD looked devastated (3rd time we had been to a 3d film only to find out not 3d times etc)..

The man kept saying it's not on at that time (looking at his screen).I didn't even kick up a fuss, but did make the point that it was on the website.

The man on the next till, said it was because of a screen fault. He asked if we had made the trip especially, which we had travelled under the Mersey on the train.. He made a call to the manager and said. As it was their error we could watch another childrens 3d film FOR FREE.

So after all my worry, we got the film for free, DD got her £10 contribution back and we had nachos and Icecream..

DD loved the 3d trailer, but did say that she was disapointed that nothing came flying out at her during the film, so another benefit is that she learnt that not all films need to be watched in 3d. She did however enjoy the film so all good.

Thanks All

Heifer - that was nice of the manager to let you in for free. It is not a cheap day out going to the cinema. Hope you had a fab day!

Driftwood999 · 25/02/2011 22:43

OP, would you consider getting a part time job to pay for these outings in the future? Or have I missed something? Apologies in advance if I have...

Heifer · 26/02/2011 12:09

Driftwood, trust me I have tried! Having 6 yrs off seemed to have killed my career. I have been applying for part time work for 2 years and fulltime for around 8 months...

Moving up North has made it even harder.. There are some jobs around (average week, 4 applied for) but there are literally 100s of other people applying.

No need for the apoligy though Grin
