Had rant at a random man!!

Went to ASDA, with DS 6yo, for a few bits to tide us over. Usually go to Sainbos but he had pocket money to spend in toy section too.

Waiting at Customer Service Desk, 2 people serving. One finishes her customer and signs off (prob break time?). There is a family being served, a lady in front of me and then me and DS. It took 10 minutes for the family to be served and then they syarted having a general gossip with the customer service lady. Myself and the lady waiting did Hmm faces to each other and she began to edge forwards. They took the hint and ended the chit chat. Took a few minutes for lady in front to be sorted and then I got called forward whilst they waited for the relevant department employee to come and help.

As DS puts his money to be put on his card on the desk a man runs up and says "you don;t mind if I push in for change do you?, I the photo machine only takes change"

I said " actually I do, Ive been here 15 minutes and waited my turn"

His reply "well I've left my children alone by the machine, I don't have time to wait"

So I tell him "you should have bought your children to the queue, they will have to wait like DS has"

WIBU?

BTW the customer service lady took the £5 from the man and gave him change despite my protestations. Shock

YANBU; people pushing in really annoy me. I hate it when I'm being served in a shop and someone just comes up and asks the assistant a question then they stop serving me to sort the other customer out. Very rude

mumbar · 22/02/2011 19:20

Thanks. I was Shock that he thought it OK to leave his DC's alone, and use it as an excuse to push in when I had a DC too.

YANBU.

He should have sorted the change for machine before he got tot the shop. Mind you he probaly the type of person that always has goes into shock when his shopping been put through the till and he got to find his wallet to pay, thus wasting 10mins faffing.

Gemsy83 · 22/02/2011 19:29

Why did the person serving allow the idiot to barge in?

AgentZigzag · 22/02/2011 19:30

He didn't tell you that his DC were 23 and 32 though did he? Grin

Sometimes I let people go in front of me (more often if they don't presume they're more important than me Wink) but other times if I'm not feeling the happy vibe I might say something.

He was being cheeky, and you were within your rights to pull him up on it.

lowercase · 22/02/2011 19:32

as it was just a quick thing, id say yabu.

mumbar · 22/02/2011 19:34

agent its true I wouldn't mind sometimes. If truth be told I was already pissed off as the CS lady had been 'chatting' and holding us up longer than necessary.

OP posts:
ilovemyhens · 22/02/2011 19:34

I would have just left my shopping there and walked out Grin

mumbar · 22/02/2011 19:36

Lowercase - it took as long to do his change as it did for what I needed doing. So I waited as long (again) as he'd have had too.

not really unreasonable then

ratspeaker · 22/02/2011 19:57

I think we should be issued with light sabre that only activate when q jumpers are around
that would sort them

mumbar · 22/02/2011 19:59

YABU

To call that a rant!!

I often let people go in front of me, but sometimes it's not convenient and in this case it wasn't and he was rude. I would have said to the cashier - 'What do you think you are doing? We have been waiting in the queue, he has not'.

mumbar · 22/02/2011 20:22

Ah ChippingIn How are you!!!

It felt like a rant Grin Maybe I should have ranted more then he wouldn't have got in there. Wink

Glubs · 22/02/2011 20:23

It's not his fault that you had been waiting for 15 mins but he was unreasonable regardless of that. Very cheeky.

The cashier seems to have got away lightly, the cashier knew how long you'd been waiting.

It happens everywhere, people think the most important thing is whatever they're doing right now.

ChippingInNeedsCoffee · 22/02/2011 20:26

Mumbar - nothing an injection of pure energy wouldn't fix!! You??

Put your ranty pants on next time you go out :)

mumbar · 22/02/2011 20:30

Same re energy!! Why is it when its school holidays I feel tired and unmotivated. Confused. Its like I keep going and then stop and get hit by one of those demolition balls. Grin

I'll dig my ranty pants out Grin

Was in our Sainsbo's last week waiting at Customer Service, one lady being served and two men in front of me waiting. Two old ladies (pushing those walker-shopper thingys) came in from the side and poked their lottery tickets at the cashier. She ignored them completely and finished serving her customer, and OldLady1 stepped right in front of the man next in line and handed her ticket over the counter. The cashier sort of flat-handed it away and said "There is a queue. This man was here first. You will be after that customer" pointing at me. Grin

OldLady1 grumbled and backed off, and as soon as the cashier served the man she was up there again waving her lottery ticket (OldLady2 was right next to her, obviously going to be served right after OldLady1). Cashier turned to her and said "There is still a queue. This man is next. I will serve you after that customer" pointing at me again.

OldLady1 looked daggers at me and stood there huffing.

Same again after the man got served, by then I was trying hard not to Grin openly.

I have to say, I would normally have let a little old lady with a walker go in front of me but these two just seemed to have the attitude that they were automatically entitled to go to the front of the line.

I get the distinct feeling that the cashier had encountered them before! Grin

mumbar · 22/02/2011 21:26

See that is why I normally shop at Sainsbo's Grin
