Monday 21st feb. 10.35 BBC1 TV.

This was a hard swearing Irish mum. Giving it real wellie. It worked the swearing was funny rather than objectionable

My wife fell about and she never swears.

A bit like Father Ted, I suppose. cheers "Gabby" PS nice to find something on TV to praise

Ah, really Gabby?

I thought it was awful. Made me nostalgic for Les Dawson... now there was a man in a dress.

thats it with comedy Tetherm one womans meat is another womens poison.

Was it the swearing that upset you? (10.35 is rather late.)

I liked Les dawson too; but comedy times have changed. cursing is in. (its not always funny.)

Gabby Logan is not allowed to swear on air.
(but she does grit her teath)

YABU to call her 'the wife'...

tethersend · 22/02/2011 14:56

Oh no, the swearing was the best bit. The swearier the better in my book.

It was like a 1970s show without any of the funny bits of actual 1970s shows. I just found it odd; like an eastern European sitcom I just didn't get.

do you mean Mrs Browns Boys that was on BBC last night?
if you enjoyed it the books based on the same woman are hilarious they are called the mammy the granny and the chislers and are wrote by brendan o carrollSmile

I laughed out loud with some of this, makes a change that I found something that was supposed to be a comedy funny! Lets Dance for Comic Relief was so so sad, badly read lines that were supposed to be amusing which weren't.

well, it either makeS you life or it does not.

The wife is not bothered by shallow title terminology. (She thinks the earthquake in NZ is more important.)

But when I say she fell about laughing, she did. And theres no need to analyse thaT.

the similarity to TED was mentioned, (I got fed up of that eventually)

It was ,of course, the full of gusto performance by the lead actress that madeit funny. (even some of the sex jokes were funny)

If it made you laugh, it succeeds. it will be interesting to see the progs pulling power in a few weeks. "Gabby"

It made DH, DS and I laugh as well, not sure why and not sure if it would be so funny once the novelty wore off. There were definitely some funny scenes.

GabbyLoggon · 22/02/2011 15:29
